Unlike most brands, Volvo doesn’t experiment with their designs. It’s very cohesive within the lineup and not too boring and not too dramatic either. You see it, you know it’s a Volvo. This V90 is nearly a perfect vehicle. We need more wagons in the states
I disagree ... Volvo is actually experimenting big-time with Tesla interiors (lack of physical buttons/switches; not permitting all-metal roofs, etc.) and failing. The V90 is far from perfect because of its "mild-hybrid" powertrain with supercharger and those Tesla-like inferior interior qualities; make the V90 Cross Country into a PHEV, and they might get a lot more sales ... "mild hybrid", nah... few people want that -- 21 mpg city, you gotta be kidding me, in 2024??? With my XC60 T8 ER PHEV, I typically get 100-200 mpg city/town and 27-28 mpg highway. These "mild hybrids" are a joke, and annoying with the ICE coming on an going off constantly at stop signs and traffic lights...
@@panameradan6860 They're not Tesla interiors. They're Volvo interiors. Volvo wants to be a sustainable company and the materials and style of Volvo, while incorporating some trends Tesla started, is different han Tesla.

You should try one of these with the Polestar optimization update that Volvo has available to purchase. It turns off the start stop and increases HP and Torque by 5-6%.
Back in 2019 I leased a Volvo V60 T6 - it's the only car I ever purchased when the lease was over - I still own it. The car looks amazing, and I am happy every time I see it in a parking lot. I wish I had the upgraded Stereo (I have the HK, wish I had the B&W), and the digital displays could be more versatile - otherwise, the car is perfect. Unless Volvo offers something similar as an EV down the road, I will keep this forever (or Audi brings over the new 2025 A6 in an Avant form, I would get that one as well).
The Volvo V90 is a fantastic car! It's got that sleek design and a super comfy interior. Plus, it’s packed with safety features, which is always a plus.
From Audi Allroad A6 and Q5, I made a switch to V90 CC, and I can say that Volvo does it in a very unique way. Unlike Audi, which looks and feels very modern to the point that it can get overwhelming, the V90 CC begs to differ by making this more comfortable, chic, classy and homey. Polestar optimization is a worthy upgrade to Audi owners out there in Dynamic mode and thinking of switching to a Volvo. I think V90 cc would be the model I'll be driving for good. Hope they'll keep making this one. Wonderful review, very detailed and covered everything.
@fleuger99 In my experience, the engine is more revy, and the reaction time is much quicker. Although it consumes more gas, the off-throttle response is more sustained. Without the Polestar optimization, I never felt the v90 cc slow by any chance, but after the update, I feel like it's a bit more powerful than before, as if some HP has been added too. Maybe it's just the reaction of the engine, but still fun to drive. Hope this helps.
I bought a 2024 V90CC. I’ve owned multiple Subaru Outbacks and my wife has the Audi A6 AllRoad. I love the vehicle. Super comfortable, quiet, and stylish. Definitely not as fast as my wife’s Audi. I considered the XC90, however, I wanted a car (with hauling capacity) that had better handling than an SUV and was less stressful to drive on the windy highways and back roads of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. It fits the bill! As for the bill, I did not spring for the Premium (nor was it available), though I recently added Polestar Optimization, which is kind of like a sport driving mode. When I considered my alternatives, the price of the V90 was not that much greater, which made the choice fairly easy.
I bought a V70XC wagon new in 1998. I replaced it 26 years later with a XC60 SUV B5 Ultimate. My V70, which had ~ 290K miles on it, could easily have lasted longer, but I needed more ground clearance for a particular application. I could see getting a V60 or V90 wagon someday.
We have a 2010 XC70 Wagon and we have over 125,000 miles and not one problem. This is the best car we've ever had. We plan on selling our 2022 Mercedes GLC 300 and get this V90. Our 37 year old disabled son uses a wheelchair and I need a low lift over height and larger trunk than the Mercedes. Great review! Thanks!
I have this, mostly the same, just a 2024. Very expensive but overall comfortable, capable, and unique which were my priorities. I have my small criticisms but I do love the car.
These are fantastic at first. But the resale and repair costs are astronomical and unrealistic. This is why even CPO ones are huge fractions off what they should be.
They need this in PHEV form. I'd buy it instantly. Why Volvo has not put their current PHEV drivetrain into any Cross Country wagons is inexplicable. Why put it into a low-volume non-lifted wagon (V60 T8)? Cross Country wagons have always outsold the non-lifted wagons over the past two decades, I thought...
I Love all Volvo models but this one is one of my favorite model next to the best XC90 . I think maybe they didn’t do any major up grades in these models is because their company plan was to go all electric which they released a news bulletin that now they’ll continue ice along with electric , basically backing off on their plan for a few years.
How big 7 you need the screen to be? I think the 9-inch screen is appropriate. The bigger it is, the more distracting it would be. In all honesty, I miss actual buttons.

Volvo makes the best interiors at least in my opinion at this price point. We tested out an XC90 ultra and those seats were so damn comfortable. The salesman told us that the seats were made by chiropractors I think and I believe it because those seats were impressive. The drive was so nice too, it was quiet, comfortable and most surprisingly refined. I’m typically not a fan of a 4 cylinder being in the size that the XC90 is but we were just pleased with how comfortable it was even despite having 21’s. It’s not obnoxious or loud it’s blends in with the background. We have a 2017 highlander limited so it’s a big step up. And despite the small screen, it’s decent in size. At least it’s not 9 inches going horizontally with the dash. It’s flush within the dash itself surrounded by premium materials. The system itself though I did find it a little challenging to get certain stuff but using the Google talk feature, it takes away that extra step of going into menus to find different features you wanna activate which is a big plus.
