I love your videos. They are the one thing I watch that's void of politics and other current craziness in the world. It's just radio....period. Very relaxing and entertaining. Keep up th fine work.
That thumb. When I was a mechanic 40 years ago I’d smash fingers and get blood under the nail. I’d take a hot needle, push it through the nail to drain the blood and relieve the pressure and pain. One of the knuckle heads I worked with would use a small drill bit in a drill to drain the blood. One day the drill bit went through the nail and then through his finger. Lots of yelling and lots of laughter. 😅
to be honest I think its very hard for someone like you to dumb it down sufficiently for the complete beginner because a lot of it is so obvious to you that you wouldn't think of mentioning it. I had the same problem with trying to use a multimeter at first because video's which explained them started above utter idiot level😂Luckily I have no intention of fixing an old radio but admire your skill and the ability to make old electronics useful again.
Electrician, here. I'd be happier if utter beginners did not start with All American Fives.... That said, Seth does a really good job of explaining things. Probably the most useful being: Don't just plug it in and find out when it let's the magic smoke out.
I have one in mahogany and blond oak plus one that just has the clock and the knobs are on the sides radiodaze restored them for me long time ago need to get them out and use them someday
Taking the time to show more of your methods is good, and the set came out great. The only that we miss is, the sound of the hum. the phone does not catch it Could you move it in closer, some people have not heard it, in real time.

One of the most cramped with parts and wires small chassis you will find. Nice to add Bluetooth to an alarm clock radio.
This is one cool little set with a clock radio in it! My guess would be late 40's-early 50's. Bluetooth brings out the best in the sets you work on.

@@ethelryan257 yep. there is a whole related skillset to fixing these safely. A lot of people can't actually solder properly for a start

You might try using rod style vacuum tubes designed to run of 50V B+ and 1.5V H+ mounted into matching vacuum tube bases.
I suspect that the Traveller Radio uses Low Voltage Vacuum tubes and will be hard to get.

With respect - you should take off your metal watch while working around electricity (and rings etc.)
I agree with you on that, because like you (and everyone on here) I would be more concerned about electrical current. Good thing you brought that up.
