I don't think navigate calulated that Utah State would bring in as much as Memphis. But the amount brought in adjusted for travel costs for the conference was close to the same.
@@scottyking7161 i agree, I think the PAC will come back around to take another swing at Memphis, Tulane and UTSA. Utah State and UNLV were their last offers to any MWC schools. Obviously UNLV screwed up there. We need to be east bound and down from here on out.
@@rutgers182the pac 12 doesn't have a tv contract yet. If the pac 12 gets U Conn and Gonzaga, Memphis and Tulane should also go to the pac 12. I think the Pac 12 would get a tv contract 4 to 6 million more than the AAC. IMHO.
I think your image of this recent round of realignment news as “an expensive game of musical chairs” is apt; a more pessimistic take might be to describe any G5 realignment as “rearranging deck chairs” since CFP benefits seem so stacked in favor of the SEC and B1G specifically and the P4 generally. What I really hate seeing in this process is the disparagement of programs like Hawaii, Wyoming and San Jose State, as well as the programs the AAC added to replace recently exiting members. From a distance, it feels like the AAC’s current ESPN contract is a bird in the hand that was not worth risking for a hypothetical future GOR deal from unconfirmed streaming and linear video providers. I was not aware of all of the collateral benefits of that ESPN relationship that you described in terms of benefitting students. In any event, thank you for your comprehensive overview.
Memphis and Tulane are going to love PAC membership. The PAC has no intention of being permanently boxed-in by the national sports talking heads as G5 “best of the rest”. The PAC is rooted into a DECADES long Power conference mindset level. The good news is that both Memphis and Tulane will be coming into a Power level of play oriented conference. What the PAC is NOT going to became is a Cupcake Conference of Champions, Best of the Rest, MW-alternative. Memphis and Tulane - see you at the PAC dance.

@mrwonderfulone i don't care what navigate says. For a pac 12 league, central time zone schools add to your TV value.

You guys dropped the ball. Should have gone to the PAC 12
they make $3m/yr more in the AAC. Pac 12 needs to pay more to its members.

Pac 12 should get uconn, jmu, liberty, TX state and re approach memphis, usf, Tulane and utsa..
Then they should add unlv to get to 8 and immediately extend an invite and bring in gonzaga and st Mary's in basketball and we join in 2027!

We are valued higher for the pac 12 for a TV deal because we are in the central time zone. That alone raises value!
As a Memphis fan Memphis and tulane gotta get away from this clown show
Why the hell would they stay lol
Did you say New Year’s six? Sounded like New York six.
