  • Colonial recently sponsored a Partners in Response Conference and Workshop in Williamsburg, Va., and it was a great success! Colonial’s Emergency Response Team sponsored a similar event in 2022 in the Atlanta area. The focus of these events is to strengthen our trusted partnerships with local, state, and federal response partners. Check out this highlight video for all of the details.
The two-day conference and workshop provides Colonial with the opportunity to sponsor an event bringing together tribal, local, state, and federal response partners in a venue offering training and networking opportunities focused on managing a large-scale emergency response.
Day one included presentations by Colonial, Virginia, and federal partners, providing an overview of their authorities, jurisdiction, and responsibilities in managing an incident in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Day one ended with a Unified Command Panel that included Coast Guard Capt. Peggy Britton, soon to be in Command of Sector Virginia, serving as the Captain of the Port for this USCG Sector.
On day two, the field portion was similar to our Tier 3 event this year, including such activities as response contractor equipment deployment/demonstration (underflow dams, booming capabilities, protection and recovery operations, etc.), wildlife capture/rescue, rehabilitation, and release. Additionally, Newport News Fire/Hazmat Team, the EPA, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service demonstrated their latest technologies to support emergency response operations.
It was a great opportunity to network with our Response Partners in Virginia, whom we may work with in the event of an emergency. It’s our hope that coming together to build these important relationships makes us all more effective in protecting the people and environment from all hazards.
