What a beautiful winter day. Gorgeous blue skies, sea smoke on the water, temperatures cold enough to freeze the channel--it doesn't get any better than this.
This is where I first saw Lake Superior. Of the 43 states I went to hauling freight, Lake Superior was the most awesome sight. A giant freshwater ocean smack in the middle of the country.
Californian it actually smack on the edge of two countries. But i get what you mean..she is a beautiful sight to behold.. You could say its smack in the middle of our continent..

We moved to Duluth Heights for some reason and after High school, joined the Navy. Retired after 22 years and now live in Georgia. About every five years I go back home and go down to the pier and watch the boats. Nostalgia kinda sets in. God bless

I was there that day with my camera! I believe it was -38° if I'm not mistaken. Sounds crazy, but it was such a beautiful sunny winter day. My hands had to thaw getting back to the car though! Great vid 👍
I work for a shipping company and a cargo cruise ship horn came through once. It was 6ft tall 5 ft wide and had its own electric motor that weighed 300 lbs. The horn it's self I think weighed 800.
Possibly a dumb question, but is there a schedule of when ships pass through the canal?? I'd love to see that in person. The video footage is great but to see the true size comparison has got to be unreal.
For something that large to freeze is crazy. We live in Duluth MN. It gets -60 so yeah when one of the largest fresh water lakes in the word freezes yeah it’s crazy

This is a gentle wind, on a mild spring morning, in Saskatchewan, Canada. What most consider frigid, we consider a mild chill. I would have it no other way. I live for the cold, wind, ice, snow, dark, and beautiful wildlife.

Which canal on the Great Lakes is this. Is it part of the Welland Canal? I know the Locks at the Sault are under a fixed bridge, the only canal I know that has lift bridges is the Welland.
