    This is a fairly accurate depiction of the city if David and the natural landscape that existed in his day; which is very different now because the hillside has been largely destroyed. The one important thing that is missing in the drawings is the granite spire that stood on the highest level of Mount Moriyah (הר מוֹרִיָּה). This granite outcropping was almost 75’ tall and took up most of this level; it is one of the the reasons that the Mik’dash (Temple) was built on the level just above the kings palace (where the “threshing floor” stood); this is where David built an altar to Adonai to stop the “plague” the Elohim was bringing to Yis’rael, and it is where David intended for the Beyt-Elohim (House of G-d) to be built. The North side of the Mik’dash protective outer wall was eventually built against the Opel (steep rise leading to the highest level; that area had a hill which took up part of the area were the first Mik’dash was built; this was eventually removed so the area was larger and flat; then the six out buildings were added on two sides of the Mik’dash (referenced in Mishnah). The most important reason for the Mik’dash bring built just above the palace was access to the water of the Gihown Spring. At that time, the water would rush underground from the reservoir on the other side of the Kidron valley and would shoot up a well-shaft within the walls of the Mik’dash to supply the “living water” needed for the sacrifices and cleansing in the mikvot. A large earthquake in the first century caused the water to become bitter, and it no longer rose from the Gihown like a geyser (which is where it got the name “dragons well”); this is when a water wheel was added to the well shaft to hoist the water into the Mik’dash (referance the Mishnah). Today the water of the Gihown is a gentle steady stream.
    When Rome incorporated Y’hudah (ֲיְהוּדָה - Judah) as part of their empire, they built Fortess Antonia on the highest level; which covered about 35 acres; like every other Roman fort of this period. Unlike the other Roman forts, they had to contend with the granite spire, which is why the walls were made 45-60 feet tall depending on the side. After the walls were built around the spire, and a large hose stable structure was made at the base, they back filled the entire area inside the walls to make a level place for the legion (6000 troops and about 2000 servents) to make their encampment. Three ancient historians say it appeared to be a large city, having shops, housing, entertainment, and servants structures. The only portions of the granite spire that can still be seen are inside the Mask, and along one wall of a tunnel that goes part way under the old fort. If the walls were removed, along will the dirt, the granite would be clearly seen today. Which make one wonder why tradition has taken president over reason; since the walls are man made, and the granite can bee seen inside the Mask, there is no question why the Mik’dash stood just below the Ophel; the water of the Gihown spring still being the greatest reasons for why it was built where it was.
    Given all the archeological discoveries in recent years, the palace of king David and Sh’lomoh being among the greatest discoveries in terms of locating the site of the Mik’dash, it makes me wonder if Adonai has permitted the COVID virus to come just to slow down the rate of these discoveries while some final key portions of prophecy are being fulfilled. Once the Mik’dash is rebuilt, only three years will remain until haSatan is bound and cast to Sheol for a thousand years; and Y'rushalyim haChadashah (The New Jerusalem) will stand where the first two stood. Baruch HaShem!

      @Don P
      Very true, COVID is a global event and may well be used by Elohim in some unforeseen ways; I was only speaking of it’s possible purpose in slowing archeological discoveries in the Holy; all things are brought to light according to Adonai’s (the L-rd) time table. I’m not saying this is a fact, just a possibility. Many things happen that we don’t understand until time has passed.
      WWII effected most of the world, and it was hard to see the good that might come from the so much death and destruction. Yet near the end of the war the death camps were discovered, and Elohim (G-d) used the Shoah to fulfill prophecy by giving Yis’rael much of its original home land back. Adonai used the US to push this through the League of Nations, and then the UN. But it wasn’t complete until President Trump signed the documents of recognition. Until then Yis’rael’s sovereignty in the land was unconfirmed before the rest of the world. When he signed the second officially document, recognizing Yis’rael’s claim to Y’rushalaim, this prophesy was completely fulfilled. This was something every President refused to do until Trump; though they all were given the opportunity, but this was done according to Adonai’s timing. This is only one reason I see the world entering the final years before Messiah returns; there are to may to actually list here.
      Another example of our hindsight, and Adonai’s fulfillment is seen in Yeshua’s own words regarding the Mik’dash (Temple); not one stone will remain upon another. Most people think this was fulfilled in 70CE when Rome looted, and burned the Mik’dash. But it was actually fulfilled in 137CE, one year after the last Jewish revolt lead by Sh’mon Bar-Kochba. When Rome overthrew the rebellion (132-136CE), they razed Y’hudah (ֲיְהוּדָה - Judah) to the ground and Emperor Hadrian changed the name of Y’hudah (Judah) to Syria-Palestinia; he also proclaimed a edict that no Jew could like in the land ever again. One year after this (137CE) Rome came back and literally plowed the Mik’dash under (leaving not one stone upon another).
      Another partial fulfillment took place during this revolt; Yeshua said false messiahs will come and deceive many. The first, with a large following, was Sh’mon Bar-Kochba himself. After he organized all the separate rebel groups, under his leadership, he lead a very successful campaign against Rome; the rebels defeated the entire legion assigned to Y’hudah and killed several thousand troops sent as reinforcements. He was so gifted as a leader, tactician, and warrior, that rabbi Akiva (a very prominent rabbi who is quoted in Talmud) proclaimed him to be the messiah; he even gave Sh’mon an Aramaic surname “son of the star”; taken from the star prophecy, and most of the Y’hudim (Jews) followed him. But those who knew Yeshua was the true Messiah, and knew His warning, refused to follow Sh’mon. This caused most Y’hudim (יְהוּדִים - Jews) to consider Yeshua’s followers to be traitors. Rome thought the followers of Yeshua were a threat to Rome because of their teachings; so believers were hunted by both sides, and several thousand who refused to denounce Yeshua were killed. After Rome plowed under the Mik’dash they built a “temple” to Mars on its exact site. Of course Sh’mon was only the fist of many false messiahs, but Yeshua’s warning about false messiahs deceiving many began fulfillment just 105 years after He became our Pascal Kar’bon (Passover offering).
      Sorry for running on for so long, I’m a minister and a rabbi, so it’s in my blood. May G-d bless and keep you. B’Shem Yeshua haMashiach, Amen, v’Amen. (In the Name of Jesus the Messiah, Amen and Amen).

      @@Hever73
      Baruch HaShem, if I use the Name of Yeshua frequently it’s because He is the Messiah. If I sound like a Christian minister it’s because I have been a Messianic Minister since 1984; I’m still always going to be a Jewish Rabbi, but now I know who Messiah is. If I chose to speak as I once did, from a rabbinic point of view, I couldn’t really bring the good news of redemption to very many people outside the Jewish community. So, like Shaul, I must become all things to all men.
      You wondered about my thoughts on COVID? As with all things, it’s another link in the chain of fulfilling the words of Adonai; but while we’re in the midst of events, it’s not always clear to us how they fit in. I know that the Holy One, Blessed be He, has a memory of the future; that is to say, He new everything that would ever happen before He created anything. We only see through a glass dimly, as rabbi Shaul said.
      We stand at the base of a mountain and try to imagine the other side, but Adonai is above the mountain and sees everything clearly. When my grandparents, and great grandparents, saw events taking place in Germany they had no idea those events would lead to Ghettos, and later death camps. They went along with changes, thinking that if they didn’t make waves things would get better; of course by the time we were put on trains it was to late.
      Events that are taking place around the world now, and in our country, are going to bring us into the tribulation period, the years of Ya’acov’s trouble, and the “Abomination who brings Desolation”. COVID is a step in all this. Imagine what would have happened before COVID, if the government said “everyone wear a mask and stay indoors”. Nobody would have obeyed that, not even if they were told it would prevent the Flu. Now everyone is indoctrinated into obedience. As states lifted the restrictions a new variant seemingly popped up; and according to many news outlets, it a new pandemic. But as I look at what’s happening in my state, and many others, there’s no evidence that anything big is happening. Don’t get me wrong, COVID was real, but it has become an opportunity for some to control the masses. A mask made of cloth can’t stop a virus that’s 1-2 microns in size; even the N-97 mask is only effective for 20 minutes, then it must be replaced. The vaccine’s being offered aren’t approved for wide release to the public by the FDA; but the government is pressing for everyone to be vaccinated, and if you comply then you don’t have to wear a mask anymore. I won’t say people are wrong in getting vaccinated, but the long term side effects won’t be known for many years; they can’t even decide if it’s truly effective andd if it will work against the “new variant”. People have been refused to vaccinate their children against things that are horrible for several years now; smallpox, children-pox, measles, etc., and those vaccines have a proven track record, but there’s no big scare associated with those things right now. But the hype about COVID continues to be presented by the media and government; it all seems to be a distraction to keep everyone in step.
      If I had to guess, based on prophecy fulfilled, and what remains, I think we are much closer to the true tribulation period than any of us would like to contemplate; but that means we are closer to the day Mashiach returns and He calls His people to His eternal Shabbat. Baruch HaShem!

    If David was instructed to build his altar on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, (which has been found and was in The City of David), and the temple was built upon the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, doesn't that tell you that Israel currently has the wrong location for where they say the temple stood?

    • @emeqgershown3064
      @emeqgershown3064 3 роки тому +5

      The actual site of the “threshing-floor” hasn’t been definitively located; if it was the third Mik’dash (Temple) would be under construction already. What has been found, with certainty, is the old city of David and the king’s palace. The actual site of the “threshing-floor”, and therefore the Mik’dash (Temple), was above the palace, on Mt Tzion (Zion), which is part of the Mountains of Moreiyah (Moriah). Archeologists have uncovered enough of the “pilgrimage road”, that lead from the “Pool of Silom” to the the Mik’dash (Temple), to know that the Mik’dash stood above the old city.
      Scripture also tells us that the “Threshing-floor” was in an elevated location. It says, after David purchased the “threshing-floor” he ascended (went up) to build the altar and offer sacrifices which pleased Elohim (G-d) and stopped the plague.
      Threshing-floor’s are always on a higher relative elevation because there is more breeze to help separate the chaf from the grain. It also couldn’t be on a steep grade, and the northern part of the city of David was very steep. The south end of the old city started at the edge of a ravine (which no longer exists due to backfilling). The farther north you go in the old city, the steeper the grade increases; the palace and some other structures were built into the side of the mountain. Mt Tzion (Zion) is above the palace near the Ophel, with the Gihown Spring on the east side of Mt Moreiyah (Moriah). The Mishnah says the water from the spring was drawn up through a shaft using a wooden water wheel that was inside the outer walls of the Mik’dash. Three historians from the first century also place the Mik’dash (Temple) on Mt Moreiyah (Moriah).
      I hope this doesn’t sound preachy, that isn’t my intent. I’m just wanting to provide good information. Have a blessed day.

    There are major flaws in this video. The temple was in the city of David, because 2Chron. 3:1 says the temple was built in Jerusalem. The bible says in 2Kings 9:28, Jerusalem and the City of David are one in the same. There is just no getting around it, unless you don't believe the bible. Before King David took control of the Jebusite land, the whole area was called Mt Moriah. When king David took control of the land he called it Zion, 2Sam. 5:7, which is the lower section of Mt Moriah. King David prepared the threshing floor for his son King Solomon to build the temple as per 2Chron. 3:1. The 38 acres of Mt Moriah start at the end of the threshing floor upward. Now lets use some common sense, the Temple could not have been up where the dome of the rock is. The Gihon Springs is the only source of water, and archeologist have found the Gihon springs. It is in the Kidron Valley beside the city of David. There is no way the high priests would wash themselves in the Gihon springs and then walk a half mile to two thirds of a mile, up Mt Moriah to the temple. Their robes would be filthy and sweaty, so therefore they could not enter the holy of holies. The temple had to be close to the Gihon Springs. The second part of common sense is the Roman legion, where was it? A Roman legion was 6,000 soldiers and about 4 thousand support personnel. If you were a Roman general in charge of overlooking Jerusalem I think you would want to be on high ground. Mt Moriah is 38 acres, and it is well known by historians that all Roman fortresses were 36 to 40 acres in size. Mt Moriah would be the perfect spot. If you ask an orthodox Jewish person how do they know 100% that the temple was where the dome of the rock is, their answer is they don't know for sure, they go mostly by tradition from their fathers before them. Watch a you tube video by Bob Cornuke, it's about 30 minutes long. God Bless,

      I thought that is what they said. I had to keep rewinding it, thinking surely I misunderstood what they said.

    Seem I'm not seeing the city of David as much as I'm seeing an animation of some ones imagination. I'd rather see the real thing showing its location and the temples location.

      @kingair001 that's understandable seeing that many who are looking for that location may seek to acquire artifacts. More over they would be seeking to find the location of the Ark of the covenant. I do agree with you as to the location in relation to the Gihon.

    At 2:32 the subtitle says "build a temple to the God of Islam" instead of "Israel"
