Get your SunPass ready! More tolls to come.

Oh yeah that Sunpass is pretty much a requirement in Florida

Just drove this today, not much has changed, the new "express" lanes are open going through St. Pete as of Friday. One day soon the bridge will be finished. We'll need you back in the area! :D

And where’s the kid in a 10 year old Tiburon trying to drive 85mph across the bridge?

There replacing the 1960 bridge becuse that thing was not only made with outdated standards but was also built poorly, they knowingly made a recipe for reducing the life span of that thing to just 60 years.

I remember. It was two lanes each direction with overhead gantrys indicating if a lane was closed for a stalled vehicle.

    Add high-speed rail:❌️
    Add 2 more general-purpose lanes:❌️
    Add 2 express lanes:✅️

Same thing happened in Orlando on I-4. Definitely helps for those willing to pay a toll, not so much for anyone else. The whole Tampa-St Pete-Clearwater area needs a rail system for people, and even down to Bradenton-Sarasota.

Right! Brightline wants to extend from Orlando International to the theme parks and then down I-4 to Tampa, but FDOT has the median room lanes for Express Lanes… We’ll see…

The problem with express lanes is that very few people actually use them. A lot of people don't own transponders.

@@arc8216 most express lanes in FL now are “toll by plate”, so no transponder needed.
