@Granville Friel Get out Mark Agnessi.
@Granville Friel The headstock angle and weight are the biggest problems, and the fact that Gibson in the past few years made odd decisions.
@Granville Friel Gibson fanboy lmao
@Granville Friel I'm not asking for a Les Paul to be the weight of a strandberg, just the weight my esp eclipse, which is like 7-8 pounds. Also you do know it's not 1974 right? Marshall is another company that relies on brand recognition rather than quality nowadays. No matter how good they were back when the Soviet Union existed and before Steven Tyler looked like the crypt keeper, they often fail to keep up with brands that have better playability and features for often a less expensive price.
@Granville Friel Yea, and LTD which is owned by ESP and is based of esp guitars, but made in a different country for a cheaper price.
That intro is some of the most inspired guitar playing I have seen out of your videos. That tone was epic as well.
I agree, I usually find his playing repetitive and kind of boring but this was great! I'm really enjoying a lot of the different stuff he's been doing this last year.
The slow parts were okay I guess but the faster pentatonic licks I don't find to be inspired at all. If I had a nickel for eveeyrime somebody played pentatonic on a les Paul I'd be filthy rich cause it's all a lot of boomers who buy these guitars do. Wow 2 note per string pentatonic. Never seen that before lol
How many guitars you need?
Tyler: Yes
Most true thing I’ve ever seen
Right
Rule Number One: There's no such thing as "Too many guitars"

Do we think the custom PRS would be the priciest one?
He has guitar pedals worth more than this Les Paul.
@@jackhaugh yeah like his Klon

How much of a musical genius he is. He casualy writes all of that for JUST AN INTRO. I can't tell you how many times I've looked this video up for just that intro. Hats off to Tyler. He needs more recognition
lot of goofs and stuff on this channel but the reason it all works so well is because he really is a damn good player haha. definitely underrated.

There really is something special about the sound of a Les Paul.
Ye, I personally prefer the diversity of the strat, but there Is something something special about Les paul
For the 8mins it's in tune anyway lol
@@beatmeup0078 The Strat is easier to play, but the LP makes great tones more easily.
In my studio i have 23 guitars, but the two I play the most are a Kramer 300ST (strat style) and an old Silvertone 1445 from 1968. I have a LP studio, i have an American Standard strat, I love them both. You gotta pick the tool for the job though. In my case, It depends on my mood. I love my PRS but it's honestly the one I play the least (Custom 24). It's amazing, great sound, amazing quality, but it just doesn't make me smile quite as much as my old Silvertone. It's one of the three guitars my dad left me when he passed last year. He always kept that 1445, a 1947 Martin Acoustic, and an old micro fret guitar next to his recliner. He swore old instruments will always sound better than new ones. That's in the ear of the listener but for feel, I understand what he meant.
ya like the way you can't really keep them in tune...
Step one: get a Les Paul.
Step two: get a top hat and shades.
Step three: learn the outro solo to November Rain.
Step four: don't stop playing it because it's one of the best sounding solos I've heard in my life.
ew slash, page is better
@@jbojoify nice opinion. But I like slash. So deal with it lol
November Rain is so damn good
@Fox Spirt Jimmy Page not a household name? It is where I'm from.
@Fox Spirt Your confusing what you grew up knowing with what others grew up knowing. Your equivalent human born 10 years earlier than you absolutely thought Page was a household name, just like you think Slash is. Just different generations.
I understand his nostalgia for his old LP, but I think he'll always go back to the PRS. I left Gibson for PRS and never looked back. But I'm happy whenever anyone finds a guitar they love. If you love Gibbys, more power to you. Choice is good.
Funny, I left PRS for Gibson and never looked back. The tone and scale on Gibsons won out for me.
@@andrewkoumis4070 I like the feel of a PRS (even had a $6,000 private stock for a month), but the Gibsons always sound better to me.
Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby.
Bought a 60s standard last year. I honestly love it more than I could ever love a human child.
I feel kinda the same about my beloved LP lol
The literal thing that everyone does on a les paul “sweet child o mine”
It's a great riff but everyone's pretty tired of it for sure. It'll be the new Stairway to be banned at guitar stores. I only started playing 3yrs ago & of course, sweet child was one of the first. It's really tough to play (for me) still. I can get it right except for the speed of the fast part of the solo. The one I'm finding tough to master is Little Wing. Suppose we're all sick of it too.
Speak for yourself bro 😹

@@pedroroque4084 Amen. I adore both songs, but I can only imagine someone working in a guitar store wanting to smash a Squire off the noggin' of someone stumbling through them.
My go-to songs to start with when sampling an electric are My Michelle by GNR & Still Loving You by Scorpions. I also tend to play Lay It Down by Ratt. Nothing obscure, but it'll confuse the younguns. Then I always try to fit in some EVH. So damn fun to play.

I recently bought an ebony Les Paul from the custom shop. And it’s incredible and that’s an understatement. It’s like the damn thing is alive. Open airy organic. Brings out the best of every amp or effect I plug into. Worth every penny! Even the toggle switch is musical. I had a traditional before which was nice but this custom shop is so much better it’s crazy!
I've had an all-mahogany LP Classic with zebra pickups, from the Custom shop, since the mid-90s. I bought a 2002 Custom Shop L4 a few years ago. I really can't tell them apart, tone-wise, if my amp is set for jazz. But step on the fuzzy pedal and the Paul goes straight to Led Zep.
@@a2ndopynyn that’s cool. The custom buckers in my custom are fantastic. Best I’ve heard or played
@@paulvaden6990 I'll 2nd that emotion. A couple of years ago I picked up a gently used 2014 '58 Reissue LP with CB's. Used for the price of a new LP Standard (sadly, that economy is gone!). it's ridiculously good. Everything I ever heard in my head for vintage LP sound (not the modern 80's LP sound)... Like a Tele with some extra girth. Open, airy neck tone with a woody character (NOT wooly). Biting Bridge with sparkly clean, growls when you dirt it up. And a spanky middle position that's really an overlooked gem of toney goodness.
Great fit and finish, great fretwork, nut, and stays in tune just like my AmStd Tele. None of the 'infamous' tuning issues -- because it's bang-on set up from the nut to the bridge, as it should be (and need to be, as the design isn't forgiving of deviant setup).
Jazz to Zep, it's all in there with everything in between. Cured my lust for an LP with zero regrets or disappointment after a lukewarm relationship with an LP Studio/Tribute model.
@@lescaster2179 I agree 100%. Your description is spot on. The bridge is great but the middle and neck position are something special. As soon as I plugged in and started playing I knew my search for the best rock guitar had ended. I honestly don’t want to play any of my other guitars now. I do play my esp e-ll still to thrash but that’s it. You got a steal of a lifetime on your 58!!
There's just something about a LP that inspires you to play differently and sound amazing.

Had a "Black Beauty" once. Was able to cancel my gym membership, the damned thing was SO heavy. But when they're good, they're great.
Yeah, back in '09 I think it was, Gibson started a "female/old people guitar" (which of course they didn't brand it like that), but the commercial was "exactly the same Gibson you love, exactly same sound you love, less than half the weight". And it was a woman guitarist, the one who played for Jaggedy Ann, who took part in it.
So it was quite clear that it was a guitar to be easy on the back and highly weight relieved.
I believe it was Les Paul "Goddess" or something like that. Incredibly beautiful, incredibly light, amazing sound.
My guitar teacher had an old 70s ibanez les paul clone. It weighed even more than his friends black les paul custom which weighed a metric ton itself. BOTH weighed considerably more than my Les Paul studio, which I found out later is lightened.

You're so true on that extra piece of wood, I keep telling that to everyone and people look at me like being crazy. They can't hear the difference. I once played a LP as well as a Strat ... and also a 1955 ES-125 thin hollow single cutaway ... but I can play all perfectly on the 335.
The beginning of the video sounded kind of like a Paramore riff, but then it just turned into an absolute masterpiece of a solo
Wow, that thing blows away those PRS guitars Tyler usually plays.
My 2016 Standard is heaven. I LOVE what you played in the intro my friend.
Plot twist: Les Paul hated Gibson's first few attempts at his signature guitar
I love how he just hides that Ps5 in the background lol
Well done. I have had an Ibanez Les Paul for over 40 years and it's great. I have played a gold top Gibson LP once only and loved it.
