you make really nice touring videos, no bull, no messing about, its just you and your bike having fun, i hope you and the mule! carry on doing the same for many more years to come.
Great video Patrick, I appreciate all the effort you put into your videos, they and you are very watchable, well done....I have liked and subscribed, best wishes, Tom
Top!
Glad you liked it! I seem to want to carry a little home with me, to be comfortably installed at campsites. It's getting ridiculous, I should focus more on riding. Then again, it's what sets my videos apart...
Great video and very good and humorous commentary. Nice PR for my country which is small and very crowded, but has a lot of nice landscapes for cyclists.
Thank you for your video Patrick. It has been a long time. We always look forward to the entertainment and your sense of humour. Looking forward to the next one, soon.
Liked and subscribed Patrick! Enjoying your wonderful humour and good nature. All the best from another bike tourist who travels with her little dog, Murph. We'll be going from Nordkapp, Norway to Gibraltar this year, so watch out for us!
@@Patiboke - yes, I'm quite lucky. I've designed my life to be extremely frugal with a lot of built-in adventure time. This comes at the expense of security in later life - now that I'm in my 50's, it's a bit scarier, but so worth it! Happy Trails to you!
Following your GPS is indeed boring. Because it takes you on direct routes usuall parallel to highways thanks to our efficient cycle infrastructure. Instead you should take the LF routes for long distances. These routes are usually not the shortest but especially designed to be in nature away from motorised traffic. For short/day trips you should follow the green numbered signs. They serve the same purpose.
I must say _my_ GPS has New never let me down [yet] in the Netherlands - and yes, it is cycle specific. Here in the UK though, it has been known to guide me through farmer's fields to a locked gate that I've had to lift my cycle over. Thankfully my little Brompton isn't much of a problem in that regard. Off to Leiden later this year!
great vid Patrick :) love your sense of humour mate :D , if you dont like boring cycle paths then i could suggest scotland , although i did my first bike tour up the great glen way last week ( fort william to inverness ) and i honestly dont think the mule could do it ( too big and heavy ) , you could go and prove me wrong though :D
Enjoyed seeing your video. Seen old familiar places and new ones to do. Canal Schoten-Dessel and the wooden 'bridge' to Hoogstraten. Nice! Keep riding and maybe we meet eachother.
Спасибо за видео-рассказ!!!Я не очень знаю английский,и практически много понял потому,что вы говорите медленно и я успевал всё понять...Have a good trip!!!
Superb ! Just came back from tour calais Oostende Brugge delft Leiden Amsterdam den Haag on biky great cycling country☺️☺️☺️👌🏼love watching your videos reminds me of my tour. Better than boring BBC ☺️☺️
Hi Patrick, I adore your channel and find it very inspiring. What do you find is an ideal distance to travel daily on your trips and what would you consider/find to be too far?
Thanks Steve! The distance depends. I was once in Luxemburg, very steep hills, I rode 30 or 40 km/day. Netherland is flat, there you can do 90 km/day with the same effort. Since my last trip I have a heavy trailer, so that's going to shorten my trips a bit. I like to take a walk and see the towns where I camp, and relax a bit, do some reading... so I spend about half the day riding. Some people go on a cycling trip purely for cycling and take only the essentials, they can do 120 km/day or more, even in the hills. I could do that too but I wouldn't enjoy it much.
@@Patiboke Thank you for your reply. I'm hoping to go cycling in Belgium this summer. Catch the boat from England and cycle through the Nederlands. My bike weighs 20 KG, so 90 km/day would be enough for me too. I agree with your philosophy of cycling mixed with sight seeing. Keep uploading the great videos. I enjoy watching them with a nice beer. Cheers. Steve.
Yes, Netherland, and the Flanders region in Belgium are completely flat, lots of people cycling, not only recreationally but as a means of transportation.
A bird or something. I hope for you it was not something. Once I saw "something" while I was camping right in the Netherlands...ah, ah :) Once I was desperado in the Netherlands I took a bicycle (an old Bianchi) ride between Amsterdam and Alkmaar (passing through Beverwijk, Haarlem, etc. among other places) so I am really enjoying this...
Excellent video, impressively maintained infrastructure (both road and bike lane) Although software stabilization normally bothers me (some warping) yours works well! Scenery and street cleanliness is impressive as well! In regards to the wobbling, I have read that those with wide porter racks also experience the same thing.
Patrick love your videos , your sense of humour is fantastic, so easy to watch. Keep making then, question: what Weight is your bike with all that gear on. Keep riding and thanks. Barrie.
Today I viewed your video for the second time Patrick. Liked it even more than the first time ! Although, when I try to like the video again, UA-cam removes my first like ..... sigh :-( Had to subscribe ...
For your Android phone you can use the free app Navigator and set it to 'bike'. The maps are easily downloadable, so you do not need a live connection to the internet. You'll probably do need a big power bank since the battery runs down quickly if you have GPS and the screen turned on constantly.
Do you think you will make another bike trip this summer 2019? If so where? Maybe a trailer such as a BobYak would help you and the Mule carry all your stuff?
Hello Alex, I plan on going to the Belgian Ardennes this month! About the trailer, I've considered it, I even made a Bob Yak knockoff myself: ua-cam.com/video/8wAsY7RJdGw/v-deo.html
Your right.Never try this at home or anywhere.Because it's pretty dangerous and really hard.If you guys are not expert or what i don't want you to do this. But you can take your time, maybe that could be healing.Traveling alone can be fun or alone.Anyway it really looks good pat, your doing so well dude. I want to see you at another great video.Bye Bye Mannn~~~
I remain amazed at the amount you carry - is that a bin in your bedroom? your wobble I think is due to hanging all the weight on the frame since you modded the front with the platform rack and nothing on the forks so there is nothing to dampen the steering, try putting your low riders back on. or how about a twin front wheel mod. or build a caravan!!!!!! oh those black things in the fields are pig shelters. they harvest the crop and let the pigs loose to eat their fill.
Hello David, you 've read my thoughts, putting those two red panniers back on the fork is exactly what I plan to do. As for a caravan: I tried to make one! Sadly it got way to heavy even before it was finished and I ended op throwing away 300 euro's worth of material. If I could afford cabonfibre... :-)
well you would insist on a 42 inch TV, bunk beds, a double oven and dishwasher!!! www.cyclingabout.com/review-hebie-695-steering-stabiliser/ not sure if something like this would help or hinder. here, you go - www.eta.co.uk/2014/01/28/the-foldavan-bicycle-caravan/ I don't know about you but this rain is getting tedious, I think the EU spent all our european sunshine policy money on their wine cellar instead.

And just tap som water on the service station.

You do carry more weight than most normal tourers so the bike paths may seem uncomfortable to you more than most.
€ 3,80 for water?? If you see somebody outside their house, just ask if they can refill your bottle. I’m pretty sure nobody will refuse.
You do not have to switch sides with a single paddle, if you learn to do the "J" stroke.
