My favorite episode was when I was watching him, enjoying it immensely, and thinking "Im gonna call my sisterJanet, she will LOVE this. It's too late now (then), its 2 AM in Philly but tomorrow (the next day) I'll call her and....and there was her house in Darren's program on my TV!! Just still, filling my TV screen!! NOW THAT is one HELL of a trick!!! Really happened, I swear.
26:38 physicist here! You can tell that this is a blank as performers can fake recoil, but they can’t fake impulse and jerk “change in acceleration”) This changes nothing about how awesome Darren Brown is and how good this performance is. Just wanted to point something out for everybody looking for tiny details about how this was done. (Guaranteed you’re probably not even close to the right answer!)
Oh, also, blanks fired from real firearms are extraordinarily lethal when fired close to the head. HOWEVER, the type of blank firing revolver they are using has a plugged barrel. The hot explosive gas is thus expelled outward in the space between the cylinder and the barrel, leading to a characteristic “loud clap” sound of disc-shaped explosions rather than the “loud pop-crack” sound made by explosions radiating out of a tube with a supersonic projectile. These types of theatrical blank firing guns CAN be held against the head and fired without injuring the performer. If you think about why this is the case long enough, you’ll discover why every single pyrotechnic-powered “gunshot to the head at point blank” effect in every single stage play ever made and in every single movie/TV show prior to the 1990s REQUIRED the use of a revolver and not an automatic. Darren isn’t lying when he says “I won’t pull the trigger unless I’m confident it won’t kill me!”
@@ggor06 yep! Nor a real gun firing blanks without a VERY expensive permit process like they use for movies that shoot in the UK and need “camera-ready” blank-firing weapons. The type of prop they’re using is what you rent when you’re doing a stage play. They are exclusively revolvers and they have plugged barrels. They are also physically impossible to modify into a projectile firing weapon.
@biddyearly9262 different prop houses have different terminologies, but for the sake of clarity, let’s call them “camera” weapons and “stage” weapons. The former are usually real firearms that are modified to fire blanks…. And thus can be reconverted into live-round firing weapons with little to no machining. The later (“Stage” blank firing guns) are built from the ground up to safely fire blanks, and are almost exclusively revolvers (a few “automatic” looking versions exist, but most of them don’t cycle and the ones that do are rare, expensive, and not as loud/impactful as the revolvers.) The reason why the stage ones can’t be modified to fire real ammunition is that the “barrel” is just a solid piece of metal that is also part of the uni-body (aka the “frame”) of the revolver. In other words, if you separated every single connected piece, you’d never be able to swap in a “real” barrel. In addition to that, the trigger group assembly wouldn’t work inside a real firearm. And, most (but not all) manufacturers of stage theatrical blanks make their ammunition slightly out of spec for the real steel so that real bullets don’t quite fit in the cylinder. AND, I would imagine that manufactures make the distance between the cylinder and the “barrel” wider than normal to make room from the expending gas. So, when you buy one of these things and want to turn it into a real firearm, the only thing you’re left with that would actually work are the grip plates, trigger body and the hammer body. westernstageprops.com/products/blank-firing-revolver-38-special-black-finish-2-barrel-380-cal?variant=46865315234072 I suppose you could drill out the barrel, bore out the cylinder, beef up the trigger assembly springs, file down the hammer and pin group, and forge some kind of adaptor to contain the gasses in between the cylinder and the barrel, but at that point, you’re 90% the way there to just forging and machining a remover from scratch
I used to think this revolver load was fake. But when I see Derrens body language he is heavy breathing as if in distress. It is as if it is all real. So it seems like as if he really could be relying on the guys voice. That is freaky. Derren has some guts doing this.
Please don't compare The amazing Derren Brown with "Geller".... Even as you implied that they were both equally very popular, or similar? Geller was a fraud IMO?
Even though the bullets where blanks, and as disturbing as it was to watch Derren put a gun to his head and fire what I truly found disturbing was the fact Derren has a pickled monkey in a jar in his home as some kind of ornament, how creepy, it's the sort of item a serial killer would collect.
I haven't watched Derren Brown in so long. I am so glad I always come back to his videos over the years.

Thank you for your information, I appreciate it anyway. Yes, also it does nothing to diminish Derren, or his craft and his amazing ability....
Knowing british health and safety rules, they would never have allowed a real bullet anyways

I love these Old clips
33.26 Why can we hear derrens voice faintly in the background and the theme music?
I miss watching these on tv
that was filmed in my mate Richards barn in Jersey C.I

What amazes me is his power to remember names. As someone who can't remember a single name, this turns me on! 😂
they was all wearing name badges
Epic
YT will kill this video
This episode has already been uploaded on UA-cam to this channel 4 years ago and hasn't been nuked yet
I didn't realise you've been painting for such along time, you're very good, love your style. 🎭❤️

Geller's a liar and won't admit it. Derren's a liar and DOES admit it!
Honestly? The power over believers. The one thing people like this can’t stand is someone saying, “it is done with stooges”.
1 view, 40 seconds and no likes or comments? never been this fast🎉
Toma tu primer like.
That's not what she said
You and me both
Taxidermy is horrible.

Yeah… apparently he’s into taxidermy. He’s a weird yet genius guy
