I have had to replace both door handles on my Golf. Both times from the internal leaver collapsing. This seems to be a common problem with the Citi Golf, I know of 3 other people who have experienced the same problem. Thanks for the great video.
Very common, and you can buy the VW handles, and get a locksmith to transfer the lock bitting, so you do not need to have extra keys as well, provided your original one is not too worn lock wise. Aftermarket ones never tried, though probably doable with a bit of care.
Thanks for supporting my channel with your visit Justin, yes this is a common flaw on these door handles, but fortunately, it is not too expensive to replace.
Gary, should have used some wax to clean up that door where the old one covers the paint. 2 minutes with a cloth and spray oil, then a quick wipe with paste wax, and you do not even have to polish it, but only where it shows. As well a drop of oil on the new mech, and where it contacts the door, plus a spray of lube on the lock, and a drop of oil on the door hinges and the bump stop go a long way to making the door easier to open, and keeping the handles going for longer. Yes those handles are going to break, so the best you can do is make the door opening easy, so less wear. Put central locking in, which reduces the wear on the keys, so the barrel does not wear out at all. that allows you to only have the passenger and boot lock working, and then use the remote to lock and unlock, but you are still able to get in if the battery is flat. Yes replaced many of those handles, even keep a new one around, so as to prevent making a trip to buy one, as they are so cheap.
Around same door bottom hinge rusted and repaired and welded out of alignment. The bottom end of the door where the 2door meet sticks out as if the doors not closed but it's closed and locked but everyone's "your doors not closed ".
Uncle my door don’t even wanna open at all. Both front doors. And both back doors only open ( one from the inside ) other from the outside. But if I could just know how to open the door when it’s completely shut from inside and outside. How do I get it open?
My screw on the outside just turns and is not going into anything to actually tighten it. It seems there is no proper hole for it. Can u suggest how I can fix that. Please
You say it is one of your favourite vehicles to work on. Well mate then you have a lot more patience than me. I hate working on VW's. Their bolt and nut sizes are all over the show and the wheel studs give me the creeps. Even the torx head and inner cv joint bolts are stupid. I'll rather work on toyotas any time of the day.
Always a joy to watch you work on citigolfs
Your videos are well demonstrated and clear. Thank you

Use a self-tapping screw like a possy screw
Gary i really battle finding good quality handles for these cars. Those handles never last more than 3 months
Do you recommend a certain make perhaps?
It's better to get yourself polo handles thos ones you can pull because those handles will cost yoh
@@dynamicsduke6088 polo handles? What model? Thanks for the info.
@@dynamicsduke6088 if you can get VW units they are more than a grand a piece. Insane!
@@drevil2783 its not that expensive 400 bucks will sort you for a set of 4 handles even cheaper
@@dynamicsduke6088 400 for polo handles right? I know the citi golf units cost a grand a piece. What model polo handles work on the citi golf's?
Thanks

I get it Doc, I like Toyota's too, as a Macky we have to try to love working on all cars Hahaha.
If and that is a BIG if, you can get a VW unit it sets you back 1000 per unit. I kid you not.
Agreed, better to stick with the cheaper makes and be prepared to change it periodically.
