    I also set up a pottery studio in my garage and I bought a net off of amazon to put over my garage door so I could keep it open on nice days and keep the bugs out! I highly suggest it :) They're relatively affordable... about 30 bucks!

    thanks for honestly sharing about your career and your realizations! I'm curious what's the alternative path, or a new path that you're thinking about vs. what you've been doing up until now? I've been following your journey since the start and you really inspired me to pursue art full-time.

    Hearing you talk about wanting to continue to be an artist but not a slave to social media so resonates with me. I’d love to do art full time, but not at the expense of always creating when I don’t believe it’s worth posting or showing. What a great way to burn out and feel trapped!

    Congrats on your new studio, Paloma! It looks so cute! If I could just suggest that you be extra careful with fans around clay. My pottery teachers always said "no fans or brooms in a pottery studio" because you want to avoid clay dust floating in the air. The dust is so bad for our lungs. Lots of luck in your pottery journey! I can't wait to see what else you make!

    Congratulations!! I’ve always wanted to do this with my garage! I’m so happy you’re figuring yourself out and being honest with yourself with what you want!
    I live in southern florida so I 100% understand humidity!! My crossfit gym doesn’t really have air (it’s in a big warehouse) and they have these fans that actually feel like it’s blowing cool air if that makes sense? The fan to Google is “vie air industrial fan” pricey but worth it! That would be my suggestion since you don’t have a window or anything for a small AC unit. Good luck! Amazing work

    They have portable stand alone plug in AC units on wheels we used in one of our garages. You can put the air intake out a window or right under the door. I live in Texas too. Only thing is you’ll have to leave the garage door up just a little bit for the air intake it needs to be outside I think, but they are on rollers so you can move it around and pull it inside to close it up when not in use. You could use pool noodles to block the hot air under the garage door while you are in there. Weird suggestions but it might work and renter friendly. I know Lowes sells them because we got it there. I don’t know the brand but they do work really well. They are a little bit of a chunk of investment, not too bad but totally worth it. Oh and they are multi function, so they have heat as well. Hope that helps.

    • @palomathepeach
      @palomathepeach  9 місяців тому +1

      thanks so much! I did get a portable ac and it makes the heat tolerable. the pool noodles are a great idea

    • @Janey-Jones
      @Janey-Jones 9 місяців тому

      @@palomathepeach Hopping on the pool noodle idea. If the noodles aren't wide enough for the gap, you could use a long strip of the insulation foam board or multiple pieces taped/glued together. If you use a thicker piece, 3" or more, they could stand on their own. If you have to paint it for any reason, don't use spray paint. It might melt it. Can't wait to see how it all evolves!

    I have a pottery studio in my garage in south florida and she hot hot hot. I bought a big industrial fan (from Harbor Freight- pls pls do not waste your money on buying one from home depot or lowes- they have harbor freight in houston) that just blasts you when you are at the wheel. It actually assists when you are throwing by drying the piece out a bit which obviously keeps it from getting too weak and wet. When trimming though I have to put a dumb cardboard shield that I cut from a box int the splash pan that prevents the pieces from getting blasted by the fan and going beyond leather hard so you can still not die from the heat.

    • @autumnarcher
      @autumnarcher 9 місяців тому

      Also- my mom personality requires me to say that you need to be careful about the clay dust that accumulates in the studio, especially if you have a fan going. Please always hose things down or mop and not sweep, your lungs will thank you :)

    • @autumnarcher
      @autumnarcher 9 місяців тому

      Oh also, you can wear a long wet rag (cooling towel) around your neck- they are popular in florida (you see them everywhere at disney) and they are so good at keeping you cool- they also sell them at harbor freight.
