What do you think of Delta One Suites? Would you fly it? And what do you think of Delta’s food policy? Should they serve food on a flight at this time? 🤔 let me know!
Wow, I flew Delta One from ATL-SAN on their B767-400ER and they offered a hot sandwich at least. Time of day should not matter, especially if they're charging full amount for it. Vodka cranberry is delightful. :)
For comparison, I’d recommend Paul to try out Air Canada’s or WestJet’s transcontinental wide-body routes, which all come with 3 course meals (served separately instead of single tray), lie flat seats and full bedding and mattress pads, amenity kits and generally more premium service. Similar flight time of 4 hrs from east to west coast. These are two of the best carriers in North America when it comes to domestic premium cabins.

I agree the door is a big gimmicky for the odd seats, but for the even seat numbers less so. I was fortunate enough to get upgraded to Delta One on a recent flight from Haneda to Atlanta and sat in 6D. Being closer to the isle meant the door added a nice barrier especially when sleeping.
I had a big dinner in ATL a few months ago, then got upgraded to first at the last minute, thinking oh crap I’m gonna get a full meal and I was more than full. Didn’t bother me too much only getting a bag of chips 😂😅
I flew this atl to lax with my wife and toddler. It was great having the space with a toddler, and the closing door was great for this too. It also gave my wife the privacy she needed to breastfeed. But the no meal seemed insane
I drink Vodka, Tonic with a splash of cranberry. As much as I LOVE WestJet 787 business (same super diamond seats) they have vodka tonic but no cranberry. Flew DAL Premium Select on a intercontinental long haul flight a few weeks ago. The food offering on intercontinental flights has suffered as well. The same meal as in economy was served which was a bummer considering the reviews I have seen pre pandemic. I agree the cabin is nice and service is great but DAL seriously has cut on food offering so not surprised they just give passengers snacks on a domestic flight in F. Good review!

At the very least they should serve a light, 1 course meal at that time for what they are charging. Wouldn’t think a full meal service late at night would necessarily happen, but being a ‘First Class’ they should really do so. It’s not exactly a hop at over 4 hours either.
Love this short clip 3:19 Looks like one of the opening shots of a TV series. Fab. Perhaps you could become a director if you ever get bored of travel vids Paul.
Thank you for sharing the video. I do agree that they should still serve food on your flight regardless the departure time. I did appreciate AS served steak dinner on my 9:45pm SEA-JFK transcon flight, which you can see in my newest video.
despite everything I think this might be the most positive review Paul has given to the layout on an American flight. So I guess I have my choice for next chance I get to visit a big city
Thanks Paul! This meal thing enrages me. United is the same way. But they do not adhere to their own rules. I find flights from IAH-LAS serve a snack but to DEN they serve a meal. DEN is closer than LAS (BusinessFirst). Your flight was certainly long enough to have warranted a full meal. It's infuriating how the airlines are treating customers in First or Business.
Wasn't the pre-COVID meal policy even more restrictive than this? I seem to recall a "gap" between lunch and dinner so late-afternoon departures were snack-only as well
What do you do when you get to the destinations? Do you take flights to destinations you want to explore? Or is it cram in as many flights as you can so you can spent as much time at home?
Is it still free food in the lounge? WAs going to say they probably could have grabbed something from the buffet onboard if they allowed? FYI i just paused So still watching,,,
Wow first class and transcontinental and no meal service‽ And I don't know Paul's preferences, but that sorta expensive sandwich bought in the airport didn't very nice either. Really roughing it.
Great vlog, yet it would not be next time if you fly Delta One Suites (without dinner) ever again. It is as if Delta is testing what they can get away with.
I'm a big fan of Delta, they're my go-to airline for US domestic travel, and I have Gold status with them. For flights in general, they're doing better with "post covid" but still underwhelming. For Delta One... I don't see the value. I wish I could love it but I don't. I flew a Delta One cabin on a domestic First Class route to Hawaii last September and didn't really love the hard product (and didn't get the Delta One soft product due to the route). I won't spend cash for higher than Premium or Comfort+ on international travel, and Skymiles are worthless outside of domestic travel, so Delta One ends up being pointless or even disappointing compared to my other options (Chase and Amex transfers). EDIT: added that I wouldn't pay above Premium or Comfort+ **for international travel** - I pay for First on domestic flights pretty often.
I agree with Delta miles being worthless, and their onboard Delta One service has been underwhelming, and now the restricted SkyClub access. Being a Diamond member you don't even have a real priority phone line, so I just don't see the "premium" aspect Delta is branding itself to be.
@@guinessbeerwith gold you almost will never get an upgrade. Even with platinum it's a long shot in my experience, and I have yet to get an upgrade on Delta as a diamond

The policy on food is ridiculous, given the extremely high prices. Also, US lounges are a joke. Time for US airlines in general to raise the standards in all classes but particularly in priority seats. When you consider what they call first product is business in other countries, it’s even worse!
Unfortunately the US airline market is destroyed by consolidation and too close a relationship with frequent flyer programs and credit cards. It’s really a unique market, and I’m not dunking on US carriers - as an actual method of transport sewing together a hyper diverse, massive country, the airlines do a good job on schedule and connectivity.
@@bloc0102 what sucks is if you buy a first class domestic ticket, you don't even get access to the lounges. Only people who have certain credit cards, or who is flying international. Which surprised me. We bought our first class tickets for our trip a few years ago, the first time we bought 1st class domestic tickets, and was shocked that that doesn't even get you access to ANY of the lounges. Which is nuts. But a credit card with a high annual fee will. This year will be our 2nd time we purchased 1st class domestic tickets. Back in the day, lounges were for people in the 1st class section. Or they used to be from what I found out. It's so weird how this all works. We will never see a lounge. Lol
Many years ago I flew United 1st class from San Francisco to Boston. Was an overnight flight so….no food. Luckily I had some sourdough from boudin’s and my brother in law was one of the flight attendants so he took it and made me a sweet sandwich. Also had my full choice of wine. Not right to not get food on a first class flight.
As a somewhat-larger traveller (6'4 / 350#), I will say that there are two problems with Delta One. The first is the need to get an extender lap-bett. The second is that the seat is frankly just too narrow. Too much space is wasted on the rest of the suite, that you're probably just as well served grabbing a Comfort+ Seast.
Paul another great vlog ! Paul u should have gone to E terminal and eaten at one flew south … much better than a samich Window seats with seat closer to window are best Vodka especially polish vodka is always drunk straight
Not sure if they go with a 1900 rule of exemption for hot food is used? But a snack bar and chips? Dirty aircraft on basically a coast to coast inexcusable. Great upload as I’m looking to use this flight to LAX in July .
If you are ever in a canadian airport and need to grab something to eat, always look for the Tim Hortons. that's the only place where the price are not too boosted compared to outside the airport
I flew on Delta in first on a 737-900 back in mid-March. The flight was scheduled for 8:59pm (we left early) and got a meal. A day later, I flew on another 737-900 for a flight that was supposed to leave at 7pm but got delayed until 10:30. I was in the first row behind first, but I saw that the crew only served cold salads to those in first even though the flight was scheduled for 7pm.
No meal…. Insane. I think at least basic Wi-Fi should be included too. The overall experience looked great, though. I wonder how this compares to European domestic first class, or whatever they call it? I have read that their first class is identical to economy except that the middle seat is blocked. And the seat pitch is a horrifying 30 inches or less. At 6’2”, that is out of the question. I’ll take Delta’s product over that, meal or not!
I agree not having a meal is strange. But, I actually see why. If I had my dinner, I wouldn't eat another full meal before midnight, or bed. Of course I would maybe have a snack. So I see the airlines thinking. I don't agree, but I see why. I would be very disappointed if I spent that amount on a First Class ticket and Not get a meal. Especially since I had a meal on a flight where it was less than 2 hours flight time. They were actually taking our meal reguest while people were still loading. I think the most important thing you taught me is to make sure I check all aspects of flight Before booking. Thanks again for a great video.
Yes, checking is very important in the US - the airline industry has a huge ton of policies about all sorts of things like lounges and meal times which aren't so intuitive as many other places in the world. Always check! :-)
Love flying when there is thunder and lightning. I once flew LAX-EWR on July 4, and watched fireworks all across the country from a new vantage point! Great fun!
It doesn't seem worth the money. I've seen lots of short flights on lesser airlines where you got a three course dinner or more. It just seemed cheapo deluxe. Thanks for the video,
Ah, yes, been drinking vodka cranberry all my life, mixes really well. Also, since I'm from Sweden, I can recommend vodka lingonberry as well, it is a staple in the northern parts of Sweden, the drink is called "Vargtass", which directly translates to "wolf paw". Originally made with high-proof moonshine.
Hi Paul, just some feelings on the editing- some of the text (like at 5:00) gets lost in the background - I get you may stylistically matching the delta colours but I think its best if you kept it some black on white / white on black to maintain consistency and legibility with whatever background is on. cheers.

No. Not for me. For these prices I expect a very good meal
They do serve a meal between Detroit and some Florida locations
On a flight of two hrs or more they should be serving more than a “ snack “
No food policy is simply pathetic, and a very good reason NOT to fly Delta.

My younger friends say it is easier to sleep on the A-350!
Vodka and cranberry, a good all around cocktail !!!
Yep anything with vodka please. I drink it by the gallon. 🍸
Cheaper than buying fuel for the car 🤣🤣😬
Paul another great vlog !
Paul u should have gone to E terminal and eaten at one flew south … much better than a samich
Window seats with seat closer to window are best
Vodka especially polish vodka is always drunk straight
It’s a lot of money for a flight without food - interesting that there is a full drinks provision 😅 not sure I would pay that much for a sandwich 😲😲
I love a vodka cranberry. Lucky you knew there would be no dinner.
Curious. Did they sell this ticket as “First Class” or “Delta One?”
First Class. Delta One is only sold on the premium transcons domestically.
Air travel has truly lost its lack luster.
Rail travel is where its at.
Remember DELTA has no 1st class that’s business class.
No food?? Omg.
10:33 you clearly took the wrong airline "DEAL"ta'in another part of the terminal
You think $911 for the flight is a lot??? Especially on Delta One??? I just paid a little over $2,000 Main Cabin for a flight from Atlanta to S.Korea
great video paul mate
Today we are flying Atlanta A350
I'm always underwhelmed by US carriers. Lack of competition has bred complacency in them.
No meal….
Great fun!
Imagine paying $900 and not even getting something substantial to eat. What a shocking policy, and complete rip off.
Really looking forward to this one, hope it's good! Love the channel
FA cup final, Eurovision and a trip on an A350 from Atlanta to Los Angeles... Saturday night hasn't been so good!
It doesn't seem worth the money. I've seen lots of short flights on lesser airlines where you got a three course dinner or more. It just seemed cheapo deluxe. Thanks for the video,
Love watching all you videos Paul, I’m living vicariously through your traveling 😊 🌸
Paul, no hot meal service on first class is not on 😑
Outrageous price and what a nonsense regarding food!
Had that on Finnair across to Singapore! Review to come soon...
Hi Paul, just some feelings on the editing- some of the text (like at 5:00) gets lost in the background - I get you may stylistically matching the delta colours but I think its best if you kept it some black on white / white on black to maintain consistency and legibility with whatever background is on. cheers.
That’s BS I just flew Econ international Lufthansa and got 1 hot meal 1 cold meal… wtf America domestic for first class and nothing?!
