Hi fellas! Today we'll be doing a pretty run-of-the-mill wire EDM job with Mastercam and my Sodick AQ325L.
    Thanks for watching!

You really hit the balance between pace and information here. Keep it up. Unless the customer is going to quote larger quantities it totally makes sense to use WEDM.

hey man.... I think it's fun to see a little of both. the programming side is interesting as so many shops use different software and I dont have an edm but I might get one one day and seeing someone actually use a machine tells a lot... nice video

We just got an early 2000's Mitsubishi edm. Really appreciate this video and all the videos you've made. Good shit man!!!

I had an HFO tech give me a tip on machining a part like that years ago. Instead of slotting/profiling clear the material out by plunging with 1/2 the tool diameter or so shifting the forces down instead of trying to rip you part out of the vice then just a little finish profiling

Looks great, nice job. Used to do something similar on our Wire, we have a Fanuc W1, and sometimes with deep slots like that a WEDM is really useful. I know it's slow but you can always go and do something else while it is running to offset the time. I don't have powered Z though, would really like to have that option.

Enjoy the videos man, but that poor Sodick! Haha I’m a wire guy and run Sodick Wire EDMS with Mastercam. You should try just threading once and just profile the part.

you need to chain all cuts together that will get rid of 3 wire cut and thread

If this process works for you keep doing it! But just trying to see why you couldn't tip it up right make soft jaws (1018) and clamp on the large diameter right below the feature you are cutting and clamp the crap outa it and adaptive it out?

Definitely could! They were giving me a headache the first time we were doing them so this is the route I took, and the volumes are so low I haven’t bothered to try in a mill again to be honest.

    Mill it vertically?

You should get a Mitsubishi. Much better machine and you wont have to deal with split guides and threader tubes. Mitsubishi has the best wire threader hands down.

Do you use the axis rotation function, or do you manually indicate the part

Nice. How long does it take to wire cut that part ?
