For black shoes I'd suggest Doc martens, not sure if you already have some but i feel like they are such good quality and once you break them in (which didn't take me that long surprisingly!) they're actually super comfy and will last an eternity. I also like the worn leather look anyway. I just feel like they have so much variety too, like cutesy mary janes or ones that come below the ankle, chunky platform or little platform. I also really love the brown leather dms too I think they are gorgeous.

Hi Ash! Since you're looking for something like a salomon you could check out the Inov8 roclite gtx (there's also a "mid" version). It has a goretex lining and a similar lug depth as a salomon speedcross - def more extreme than your standard trail runner which is both practical for outdoors stuff and a look I like. I'm planning on trying the boot version around this time next year (the previous model is on sale right now but I dont want the old logo that has a bare foot in it lol. Don't worry, these shoes have a wide toebox but are cushioned, it's not a fully barefoot shoe or anything.) Icebug also has several goretex trail shoes and the Rover 2 is especially sporty looking (unique lacing system). I like their bug logo! As far as leather shoes similar to a Samba, Novesta and Beckett Simonon have all-black GAT models. Beckett Simonon actually have 2, the Morgen trainers and Rivera trainers, the latter is a bit more refined looking imo. Oliver Cabell is a UK based brand that used to have an all black GAT but currently only offers a black upper with a light colored gum sole. Their sneakers are more expensive but maybe it evens out for you on shipping/tax/returns compared to US and EU brands idk. Side note, I don't think more expensive GATs will necessarily last longer than Sambas because they seem to use the same kind of sole, which is where Sambas wear through for me first (after like 4 years of heavy wear, they're already quite durable). They could be more durable in the sense of looking nice for longer, idk 🤔 I'm waiting for my sambas from a couple years ago to wear out before trying one!

IDK if REI is a thing in the UK but they stock lots of great hiking/walking sneakers and a lot of them are even waterproof! I swear by my gore-tex salomons, those things have gotten me up trails that were basically small rivers.
There is no such thing as timeless fashion for womenswear: the essence of it is experimentation and creativity. For example, the trench which is really popular for women, was initially only worn by men during the first world war. Then it became abandonned by men but now used mainly by women.
I see it as “timeless” items are basic essentials, tend to be in any clothing shop and (often) go with most things. Whereas “trendy” items are the timeless items reimagined in a way that kind of tacky and need to be styled with specific pieces to look good.
One thing I’ve been wanting for ages but I don’t want a trendy pair are “loafers” . I don’t want the ones that look like they’re from the 90s or 2000s though. And the weather might be too bad soon for loafers 😢

I have a heavy heavy timberland jacket that is super warm but its not that waterproof, so its great when its cold but if it is raining it gets v wet ahahah . but mostly im the same, lots and lots of base layers then a high quality waterproof windbreaker (lovvvv my north face) to keep me dry :)xxxxxx
I would recommend Merrell, Keen, Scarpa or La Sportiva for a black shoe instead of Salomon's. I had few pairs of shoes from Salomon brand and they get ruined so quickly, they last like one season max if you're going hiking in them which is just sad. Also with the hype around the brand they just lowered their quality, they're not ethically made but the prices are just getting higher (not just) because of the hype which is insane to me. Same with Arcteryx brand. They have great quality stuff but not really ethically made so in the end you just end up paying insane amount of money for "the" brand. Once I saw a show where someone lived in Seattle and they also said that carrying an umbrella was just not done. But I came to realize that there's a type of rain where mist just hangs in the air--in this situation, an umbrella is basically useless. Also if you live in a big city w crowded sidewalks, you can put someone's eye out if you carry an umbrella (I am exaggerating). But it is seen as thoughtless and rude. (but don't get me wrong, I love umbrellas)
