    I recently discovered your channel and am now caught-up on your episodes. I am loving your content and I look forward to following your full journey! I am joining you from the central part of the US (Omaha, Nebraska).
    As others may advise you, a TT bike will be expensive and may not necessarily contribute a difference in your event(s) vs. the overall cost. The bike you have now is a quality bike, of course it is not 'top of the line', however, one measure that I have always used (long-term cyclist here) is to ask myself the question, "what is my limiting factor, me or the equipment?" If the bike is still 'better than you', there is not a 'need' to upgrade.....of course there still may be a 'want to upgrade', that is the decision all consumers face.
    I believe your bike fitter (by the way, a bike fit is one of the best investments you can ever make) mentioned having shorter cranks as being something to look at. If I were weighing changing to shorter cranks (likely less than $300) vs. a couple of thousand for a new bike, I would opt for the cranks if you want to stay on a budget. I had a hip replacement about 13 years ago and was unknowingly riding on cranks that were too long (for many years) ~ 175 on one bike and 172.5 on the other. I recently changed to 165 on both bikes and the impact was immediately felt.
    Keep up the great work both in your training and on UA-cam...you are making a difference in so many ways!

      Great insight and great advice!
      This roady is pretty cheap so we aren’t really looking to spend more money on it at the moment!! But I’m not really looking at investing into a tt until the new year most likely 😅
      Thank you so much and thanks for your amazing advice! I really do appreciate it!

    You should get a fan for your indoor rides. Get a standing fan from Kmart and put it right in front of you. Should keep you much cooler

      I was going to! But the breeze and the overhead fan at the moment is enough for me as I’m not riding to strenuous! I think I will look into it when I start riding longer distances for sure!!

    Mate this is awesome! Just started my Ironman journey 2 months ago from the same start point as you. Last month has been with a coach. I’ve given myself a bit more time than you, 2 years lol. In 2025 I’ll turn 40 so I figured it would be a nice thing to accomplish. I’ll be following your journey to the end, thank you for putting yourself out there, very inspirational & motivational!

I started triathlon training towards the end of last year and have a 70.3 in September with some shorter events in the lead up. You are absolutely killih it. You have made this whole thing seem like light work. I have no experience with Ironman but I do think maybe the next person to talk to would be a dietitian. Or you can check out Cody kos video where he talks to his sister ( a dietitian) about how to fuel for the race. He had said that he didn't take the nutrition aspect seriously in the beginning and it really impacted him. You don't want to under fuel and then lose muscle or energy

    I think your content is really great Brody!
    Regarding the flat tire problem. What pressure are you running? I had a lot of problems with flats for my first rides. I ran 100 PSI. After i went down to 80 i almost never get flats. You could try that out. Also make sure to check your tires for little stones dicking in slowly to the rubber. They will eventually lead to flats. So get those stones out of the tires.
    Also i switched to TPU tupes beginning of this year and havnt had a flat since then, in 4000km :)

    Don't spend money on TT bike, the bike you have got is already very good. Try regular swims in openwater in a swimsuit, few month before the event, to feel it (feels very different) and to understand where it is rubbing, usually neck and wrists. Also prictice sighting.
    Train your guts to get used to gels, many people have issues on the race day because of it.

    • @brodysearle
      @brodysearle  8 місяців тому +1

      I think the symmetry is from my long standing hip issue to be honest mate, been a complaint for many years so it often throws off my stroke! He didn’t have much to say on it but I’d be happy to ask him and get back to you if you wanted!
