REM at the top of their game. The platinum record sales and commercial success just a step away, but as far as playing their music for their fans, this is as good as it gets.
Bless his little army brat heart! Apparently LSD brought out the Belinda Carlisle in Michael that night or something to that effect. That is said with love of course and this is always gonna be my favorite R.E.M. tune of all time, so there ya go...
very nice live performance. the guitar and dancing is perfect. Hmm.. early R.E.M. was brilliant and definitely better than Around the Sun era but I thought Accelerate was decent and hopefully the new album will be too.
I like his moves quite a bit. But here he looks like he's copying Belinda Carlisle fronting the Go-Gos. Seriously watch the beginning again and imagine Carlisle.
This band is so awesome and collectively too, has anyone else notice how great a drummer and overall musician Bill Berry is?.

I was just watching, thinking if this wasn't them at their peak, it was damn close. The energy, drive and passion were palpable.
This was one month before myself and my friends The Minutemen joined them on a 25 day Tour of the South. It's a time in my life I will never forget.
I saw them at The Mosque (Altria Theater now) in Richmond VA - still remember that show

That was Minutemen’s last tour. D. Boon died shortly after :(
Ahh, REM from their golden era. I can't describe how much their music meant to me back then.
And even now. A truly ageless wonder, this tune, and such a great performance!
That's what I call a real professionalism: being in such condition he didn't forgot a word, everywhere hit the notes. Bravo Michael Stipe!
what condition?
No condition, all natural Michael.
@@MikeBaas How do I know what kind of shit is he on here?)
@@joycehall4866 Do you think so? I thought that natural Michael is here ua-cam.com/video/pP0TRYEclbc/v-deo.html

One of my top ten REM songs -- and I love most anything they've done!
Great song by a great band.
This song may have saved the ‘80s.

The IRS years, thats the era that continues to appeal to me.
Me too
I once heard the observation that REM was much better live than their studio recordings captured.
Fables had some damn good songs didn't it? Thanks for the post.
I saw them live on this tour in Ames IA about 2 months after this video was shot. It was a seriously amazing show.
I love the riff this song. And it's very sad to watch at Mike now when he's old enough. The time is running so fast, and Remember Every Moment.
his dance moves are so unique. gotta love em. he is amazing.
I'd love to run up on the stage.
Michael's the best frontman ever!
Dance move owe something to Belinda Carlisle?
He's making with his "dance moves" for his lack of talent playing any instrument.
These are New Wave dance movements and REM was so unique💥💥💥
But, boy, could he sing!!@@patgriffith4632
Michael Stipe with the cool as balls look!
They sound great live.
4 years before Tourfilm. 1 year before Pageant.
All through last year...I only listened to REM no joke
First 6 months of 2024 was the same for me!
Awesome!
Take a break, REM, Take a break....and please come back soon.
i've just noticed mike mills isn't wearing shoes.
I saw the REM tours for their 1st 4 albums. It is not hyperbole to say that the Fables tour was an absolute revelation.
thank you Rockpalace from WDR are Culture Institution in Germany
Nessuno piu di loro, nessuno come loro, meravigliosi, ineguagliabili MITICI REM ❤️❤️💓❤️❤️
Damn, once upon a time Stipe was actually a good looking guy... Who would've thought.
Michael Stipe has aged so well wtf bro 😂
I want that Rickenbacker. ...
sky blue bells ringing :)))
Very much an e e cummings sort of an image
Excellent gyratíons
Love his moves
Fables tour. Favourite one for me

That is just really, ef-ing good .... wow ...
They were incredible at their best back then
I didn't realize Michael Stipes had a neurological condition.
cocaine
It's like he's dancing to a song other than they one they're playing. It sounds great, though.
one of their strongest
This is their best song. Stipe was high as a fucking kite during this performance.......
He kind of is, actually. But he's not famous for being a great dancer, rather for his weird-ass dancing. But don't get me wrong, I love it! :D
"The powerlines have floaters so airplanes won't get snagged" ❤
So both stype and belinda did the ian curtis dance moves..
Awesomeness
seems like Stipe was suffering from a terrible itch that evening lol
Is Stipe having a seisure here?
EmitFlestiKY Drugs.
Michael Stipe looks like Herman Munster
Dude, chill.
Best ever
after so many years of seeing him without, michael stipe with hair looks weird to me now.
💥💥💥💥❤️💯👍🏻
Who are you kids and what have you done with R.E.M.?!
ah when the greats were mere thousandaires!
❤️
Watch Michael as the elf on Colbert's shelf.
#BLISSENOBIARELLA
#HELLOSWEETIE
#ILLSEEMYSELFOUT
💅😘😎
Awesome…except for the spastic epileptic seizure dance moves.
Wtf Stipe?
I think he's doing an impression of the Go-Go's
doesn't matter anyway ...
I like his moves quite a bit.
But here he looks like he's copying Belinda Carlisle fronting the Go-Gos. Seriously watch the beginning again and imagine Carlisle.
Quality poor but best I’ve heard Michael sing this song all doing his bleach blond gyration thang 😁
I saw them live in Italy on June 16, 1989. Then I saw them agaib in 1994. The magic had already gone.....
And the answer is C, LSD
Ha ha... yeah, I can see it.
what is this song about ?
Michael Stipe always said it represented hope, the American dream. Your always striving to reach your destination.
I was 13 then and had the hugest crush on Pete Buck. Too bad he's a wacko now.
cocaine is a helluva drug
@dastipe you want to see screwy dancing watch Joe Cocker at Woodstock.
it's obvious that michael stipe isn't famous for his dance moves.
