That curved trestle when first built was the longest wooden radius trestle in the world. When a train would pass over a sprinkler system would turn on to keep sparks from lighting the trestle on fire. That is why that tanker car is stationed above it.If I remember correctly the owner of the company Spreckles sugar built that stretch of rail. There are 15 tunnels in a 10 mile stretch. I did the same trip in the 1980's in a Fairmont track maintenance car. Those tracks eventually cross the border into Mexico. There is a bridge an eighth mile before the border.They then cross the border again to San Diego. Back when I made the trip the tracks were not as buried as they are now.Glad you young guys are doing crazy shit like that. It brought back a lot of memories.Thanks for the video.

When showing the cart and setup, it definitely shows more when recording vertically. But horizontal should definitely be used for when they're already on the road (track 😆)
Honestly, I was wondering why I didn't see a lot of comments about it. Not only that, if he would have uploaded it in that aspect ratio after editing it. UA-cam allows that format full screen if you rotate your phone and the aspect ratio is correct. I sometimes find them interesting in their own aspects.

Boy, I remember that trip up the gorge, used to make that run from Dos Cabezas Station up and back on ATC's (back when there were 3 wheeled ATV's) in the mid 80's. It was a long and rough trip riding them along the ties between the tracks. Occasionally we'd come across a retired railroad guy on his restored speeder from the BNSF. Thanks for the memories!

I have got to do that! I've watched this about five times.I flew over the area for about fifteen years and know how remote it is. I rode my motorcycle between Santee and Desert Shores in 2001 on highway 78. It's a very forbidding place during the summer. I loved every minute of riding out there. I miss buying fresh dates in Borrego Springs on the way to the Salton Sea.
Looks so cool i would have my tackle box net and poles and most of all extra gas to go far as hell and a huge bag of amazing good joints rolled and hit them rails exploring so cool

Most all of our old tracks here in West Ky are disassembled completely, but there used to be a 35 mile stretch of track locally that was disassembled when I was a kid. LOTS of creek crossings and valley cuts that NO ONE in the late 1900's had ever seen. It REALLY would have been a badass line to run!! AWESOME video!!
