Build Rail Kart Wheels On A Budget
Переглядів 10 тис.2 роки тому
After watching my other rail kart videos, several people asked me for more detail on my wheels. Of course there are several different ways you can build wheels for a rail kart or rail speeder. There are even complete ready-to run wheels you can buy, but they are expensive. I wanted to build my wheels on a budget using the tools I had access to. This is what I did. Leave any questions or comment...
Best First Upgrades For the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Xtreme Recon
Переглядів 7 тис.3 роки тому
This is the follow up video to my last video pointing out the flaws of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Xtreme Recon. It's for sure the most capable and fun to drive Wrangler ever built and it's a great rock crawler, but there are several upgrades that can be made to improve the overall off-road performance. I'm not gonna wow you with glitz, glam and a fancy intro clip. This is just a bare bo...

Переглядів 11 тис.3 роки тому
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Xtreme Recon is certainly the most capable and fun to drive Wrangler ever built, but I did find some flaws that will affect the enthusiast off-roader. I'm not gonna wow you with glitz, glam and a fancy intro clip. This is just a bare bones real world off-road review with the quick and dirty info I think you'll care about most. I spent several days behind the w...

John Cappa 4x4 Vlog 03: Correcting the most common driveshaft mistake I see
Переглядів 1,4 тис.9 років тому
I see driveshaft failures all the time. The most common reason for failure is because of binding. Here is a bit of info on what to watch out for and how to set up your CV and non-cv driveshafts.
Hitch Mounted Camper Step and Generator Mount

A friend built the coolest hitch mounted fold out camper step / generator stand I have ever seen. It stays plugged into the trailer and can even be run while driving down the road. Perfect for slide in campers

A little smokey tire burnout for the 2015 Hemi V-8 Ram 1500.
Too loud??
very clever on the wheels
can i use black pipe for my axeles with three pillow blocks
Please expound on the wheels - I plan to build one like yours but wondered about the wheels
The tiny cooler is scary . . .
Are you John Cappa for JP magazine?
Yes sir you did that great craftsmanship
I have similar wheels off a front lift garbage bin but wasn't sure of the best way to drive them. Thanks for this great idea.
I don't understand the clutch system. Could you please explain?
It’s a very basic mini bike clutch for #40 motorcycle chain that attaches to the 3/4-inch keyed shaft on the engine. It’s very compact.
I was waiting for road runner to pop out from the tunnel
Taper the tires on a 3 degree taper and it should keep your safety flanges from rubbing all the time. 😊
You guys are having wayyyy to much fun 😊 love it 😂
You really should make a heavy duty chain guard. It looks great. I made mine 4' x 8' to carry 4 adults 😊
I bumped up the chain size larger than needed for just that reason. For me, weight is a concern so I couldn’t run larger diameter wheels for more ground clearance. The bigger wheels were too heavy.
i have a 6 seater with a 13.5 briggs. its a bitch to turn around but at least its hard to derail lol
Appreciate the info
Anyway i could pay you to build me one?
This guy could sell you one: www.railriders.net
hey, my friend and i are looking to build one. could you give any pointers or ideas on how we connect the motor to the wheels / axels and if it’s better to use a chain or a splined hub that has the 4 bolts to connect a tire to push the wheels on the cart
A chain, sprocket and keyed axle is the most reliable drive method. Use a #40 chain and sprockets. Super durable.
@JohnCappa could you show us a part list and suppliers where you got stuff at. I'm really interested in doing this. I've seen other builds for 4k and you said you built this one for $500. I'd rather build yours for $500!
@@andykapfenstein7032 : I purchased almost everything from eBay and Amazon. It’s just basic 3/4-inch pillow block bearings, a 3/4-inch diameter keyed shaft for the drive axle, 3/4-inch diameter shaft for the front axle, some 3/4-inch spacers and keyed 3/4-inch drive hubs. It’s made up of very common basic industrial components you can get almost anywhere. To mimic my kart you’ll need the ability to weld, drill holes and grind.
did you put that 2 inch spacers on it?
It is stock with stock sized tires.
How do I get one. Great rig
Unfortunately, it’s custom made.
Something is missing. Aaaah, safety belts on the frame to help stabilize your seating arrangements.
to bad you dont have some seat springs for smoother ride? or an air horn? great video hugs wheelchair larry

I would like a gas tank big enough to travel 100 miles
I want to make one that will go at least 65mph
I would recommend salvaging an old scooter. Lightweight, enough power AND you have a Variomatic for the higher speeds you want to achieve. It’s a lot louder tho.
Reminds me of when we were kids back in the 60s building our own homemade go karts and mini bikes and cruising around town, In the summer we’d be out at daybreak I wouldn’t be back until dark. But dude you have to learn how to film in landscape mode for god sake.
Hello, would you be able to take people on a ride if we pay as a tour? I would be interested when I'm near your area.
How cool
🤘
Very interesting.
Thanks! I've made this mod on several older 4x4s. It's especially helpful if you've added a ram-assist and need the extra fluid capacity.
Id like to talk to you
About?
awesome
That looks like a blast!
Totally fun.
Well done
How long is the shaft?
track width most places is 1435 so its probably a little shorter than that
👀
right on ! theres nothing better then adventures with your family ! thanks for sharing the video !
Thank you for just a detailed explanation of the wheel. A+ Gave me some ideas
Do you know how many miles are from Dos Cabezas water tower to the trestle, I know there are 7.5 miles from the gas station, at Jacumba exit in Hwy 8 , to the trestle. Thank you, and I really enjoy your video.
raised up beside the CSX railroad to go through our backyard when I was a kid we used to sneak on the old hand carts meet up with the train in the next city over and then the steam puffer would pushes back home had to help unload the coal off the train by hand and shovel and rake a punishment for borrowing their hand cart without permission.
About how many miles can you go on a tank of gas?
It for sure depends on the speed you go. At just off idle at around 10-15 mph probably 20-30 miles. On full throttle at 22 mph, less than 20 miles. I bring a gas can with extra fuel on longer trips.
You should do tours lol this looks so awesome in so many levels
love it
Wait does the tires rub I want to get one but I want it to have articulation without it rubbing and please reply thank you.
I saw a video of a guy that built a minecraft mining cart, and he used brake drums from a chevy cavalier. they are similarly profiled to a rail wheel.
Can your friend built one for us? This is exactly what we need!
Is this track closed off now? Or is it still open to do this?
RE: The tunnel, well, now I know why plans to reopen this route fell apart. I guess the 2020 Baja quake did in that idea.
cart ride around something
How did you like the one touch top? I'd consider fox remote reservoir shocks. Or king. Or bilstein. or shock therapy if they make anything for it.
The top is an expensive option. It’s right for the right person. I would never remove the top so it’s a nice feature, but I could live without it. My girlfriend absolutely loves sunroofs and would also never remove the top so it would be worth the expense to her.
Any recommendations on the long bump stop? Maybe a higher lift.....but that kind of defeats the purpose of getting the XR package haha. Now I'm going to be weight conscious when doing exterior mods...
Worked perfectly! Thanks
I just figured out that it was you that I video taped on your cart. 11-11 2017 ua-cam.com/video/8wSPLhqdM28/v-deo.html You inspired me to build mine
