I started keeping up with platinum back in the 70s. Lift gate had value. I like Jesse's initiative. Eaglegards...
If you put the chain over the shield and tow backwards you can lift the backend when needed and also move the truck forwards via the chain if you lift it enough. This way you can make a much tighter radius on curves and crabwalk the front if needed :)

I just saw a pretty basic 1999 Ford Ranger(ex government) go for $6,500 at auction "as is" with limited inspection. Perhaps relating some to the "chip shortage" impacting new vehicles or inflation or all of the above and more??

In 1982 I hired a guy with a John Deere 450 to clear my land and foundation hole. He charged $37/hour for him and the machine. I was making $15/hour as an engineer. After he sold his bulldozer and got a job, I would hire him back on he week ends and rent a JD450 for him. I sold the house in 2001 and that guy is long since passed away.

I’m no rigging expert and nothing broke so you do you. But the strength of the straps is significantly weakened when wrapping around sharp edges like rims or that truck bed because it concentrates the stress to a single area. Best to invest in some big shackles/D-rings. Edit: at the end you mentioned it’s scrap so you didn’t care but gotta watch out for your spotters safety!
What was your cranes capacity at the radius you swung the truck? Scale said 11,880, plus maybe 300 for the block plus 75 for the scale and maybe 30lbs of wire rope below the tip. You had about 12,300 below the tip. Nice lift!
@@jmuller86 that's great man! I work in construction and we generally try to plan all our lifts 75% of chart or under, otherwise we have to fill out critical lift plans. Probably not needed for home use, but if you're going to operate that machine for hire you might look into getting your nccco certification. It's about a 5 day class but I believe it's mandatory nationwide now for crane operators.

I’m just curious did you try selling that 16 foot flatbed truck I would think somebody would be very interested in the bed, the 22.5wheels and tires, trans? But this is coming from somebody who loves any kind of medium duty truck. Maybe the yard set it aside??

OH, It's a good Friday morning when there's a new Jesse Muller video up! :)

thanks, it was pretty close. but I also had the rigging on the truck not accounted for so with that it was probably within 50lbs of the yard scale

366 was plagued with distributor issues,,poor grounds, swap with SB dist, verify fuel pumps,,,and seems like. every one of them had blown manifolds,
I needed a fuel sender/pump unit and I could not find one, had to make one from a chevy 6500 (I think; its been a while since I worked on it)
