When the food is too hard, I put them into the InstaPot for my redfoots. That way, the whole piece of giant carrot is present, but they can still chew through it.
You can’t, they’re not cats meant for everyone to have in their backyard. If you can’t afford the tortoise you definitely can’t afford what it takes to care long term for an animal that will out live your kids.
Save money and look for good deals on them. I don’t think it’s a smart decision to get one unless you absolutely love them. They are expensive and require a lot of work. And most importantly they grow faster and bigger than any tortoise species I’ve ever kept. They’re still small and they can already eat a half bag of tortoise pellets which is 25lbs
It’s hard to price them. Some people sell them for a lot more than I said some a lot less. I don’t really care cuz I’m not selling them but I can definitely find them cheaper and more expensive than what I said. Kinda just depends what the seller wants for them really.
I didn’t buy them for the money. I didn’t have the money at the time. I went into debt and have to work constantly to maintain them. These guys are tough to keep compared to other torts trust me you have to love them to keep them. I would’ve sold them a long time ago if I didn’t 🤣🤣 my dream with them is to have them in a huge enclosure and keep them for the rest of my life.
Way over priced animals....why? The care and space is the real expense. Carful you don't end up with 50 extra animals you can't find homes for. Need to put a realistic price tag .....or not. I live on 10 Acers in Florida and would love to provide a home for a couple (single sex) tortoises. But please $10,000, you keep them.
I’m not selling them and wouldn’t even for $20,000 a piece, you’re 100% right the real price is in the care, love and time that goes into raising them. But if I priced it based on how much I love them I would charge at least $50,000 a piece I don’t set the prices the market does. So awesome that you have 10acres, that’s what I’m striving for but being 22 years old and living with my parents in Miami it seems like a bit of a reach at the moment. Either way these guys are getting a big upgrade soon :)
The tortoise 🐢 I can tell that you take good care of them I really enjoy watching the video
Thank you Crystal :)

That’s a great idea! Although it’s not bad for them to have to fight the food a bit, it’s good for enrichment and if needed it helps trim their beaks.
I didn’t know tortoises blinked?
Very cool❤
Yes they do :) snakes do not, snakes don’t have eye lids.
Great work
Thanks for watching!
Great vid, these are my favorite to see!
Thanks for watching, I’ll be sure to show them off more frequently :)

@ShadowsReptiles I always like to see you videos you keep it real. Getting a cage built for this coming year looking to purchase rhino iguanas.
Rhino iguanas are awesome! My favorite lizard species that I’ve kept by far. And I’ve kept a lot lol
I want to live in an America where Aldabra Tortoises are the most commonly owned pet.
Aldabras are definitely not the most common pets here 😆
nice tortoise
Thanks :)
I worker 50 to 60 plus hours a week. How does one afford aldabras ?

They are not that much !! I think you’re over exaggerating my guy … 😂😂😂

Lemurs should be left in the wild😢. Just saying
They were never in the wild…
Don’t buy the tortoises because of the money buy them because you love them
