Lifelong Democrat here. I have had less tolerance of MSNBC lately, and left CNN long ago. Discovered The Bulwark. Like it more than others. But you people have got to get off this lamentation over Walz. He’s on the ticket. Stop second guessing Kamala. You don’t think she can make up her own mind? Wow, guys - did I just hear you say you wonder about her decision-making because she chose Walz? Do you hear yourselves? Your misogyny is showing. Stop whining, move on.

I think many voted for him simply because he was the Republican candidate. When his first official act was to lie about the crowd size, followed by the declaration of "alternative facts," people faced a choice: either come to terms with the fact that they had elected a crazy person to the most powerful position on earth, or (continuously) resolve that cognitive dissonance by going along with his lies and pretending he was a regular politician. (Cognitive dissonance explains a lot, but I still haven't found an explanation for how he became the Republican candidate in the first place.)

I don't need to always agree with somebody's opinion. But I'm not tuning in for repetitive, relentless, completely clueless takes on the same dead talking points. I've got 90% of the rest of the internet for options if that doesn't bother me. And with Tim's insistence that the GOP will take the Senate, the overall pessimism is just annoying and pointless. I think the notion that Harris got “bullied” off of Shapiro is vaguely misogynistic. I am inclined to think that she is pragmatic and tough and that it is completely appropriate for her not to want her #2 to be jostling with her for the spotlight. Walz is just being himself, he knows, what hes doing, hes going to be a very loyal and hard working assistant. And yes, he doesnt put any1 off.
I think, what eventually took Shapiro out of the running was himself - too much star power and the controversy, that automatically comes with it, and also just personal chemistry, coz it looks like, Harris and Walz just hit it off.

Did no one read the pieces about how the interview with Shapiro didn't go well? That they didn't mesh? That he expressed hesitancy to step down from the governorship? Please give Kamala Harris credit for having a gd spine and accepting that she made a decision for herself. Also, Sam, Raygun? The woman who is now being investigated for corruption? SAM.

Hearing people completely ignoring the fact that she is an experienced prosecutor, someone that has experience picking out witnesses that can convince a jury to listen to the prosecutor, is so frustrating. She saw the risks with Shapiro that the Bulwark people don't seem to care to ever bring up, and she made the right choice not to piss off her base. She's smart and deserves credit for it.

Pennsylvanian and Josh Shapiro lover here…I think she made the right choice because I think she and Shapiro are too similar. Walz balances her out and highlights something different, her “happy warrior” side, that make them the choice for JOY and HOPE. America is starving for that right now and I think it wins them the election 🤞🤞🤞. Shapiro, while phenomenal, would not have done the same as he comes across far differently. Shapiro will have his moment but this wasn’t the right fit and they were both smart to recognize that.

This is just a reminder that the Bulwark is still a conservative outlet. Nothing wrong with that per se (I'm a liberal independent) but some of their takes aren't going to be exactly pro-Kamala. She's a necessity for the anti-MAGA conservative wing at present but that's all. They don't really get the appeal of Walz as a VP pick to the left, either. I don't believe that. Trump will get 65% of those voters because every Republicans does in a presidential election.

But also Trump was already and always has been a very unpopular person. The real danger was the number of people who wouldn't come out to vote. That is why Harris has devoted everything to rallies and drumming up enthusiasm rather than going on media on her standpoints. For decades now the majority of the population is in line with democrats but the republicans have a much better organized and much more motivated base. So for democrats the number 1 thing is turnout. If voter turnout is high democrats win which is why they constantly try to expand voting rights while republicans try to curtail them.

Shapiro will deliver the counties of PA that will carry the state. Nationally he would be framed as an east coast liberal. I am 65 and a PA resident since I was 9 years old. Shapiro is the best governor we have had in my lifetime. Tim Walz delivers on labor, family, education and his plain spoken demeanor is less edgy than. Gov. S. Don’t forget- these guys know each other and have worked together. I’m looking forward to a PA rally where Walz and Shapiro hit the stage together. Not in the safe zones, but the “Alabama in the middle” that James Carville famously described so many years ago.
    Love the podcast. ❤☮️

As a North Carolinian, I am so disappointed with Richard Burr. I kept hoping he would do the right thing. I am a Democrat, who has voted for various Republicans over the years, but the recent partisanship and subjugation to one individual has tainted the Republican party to such an extent that I no longer trust anyone of that party to be honorable.

He said he wasn't political. I asked him if he was going to vote and he said "Of course I'm voting for Kamala". He was too young to vote for Obama but he is voting this year. That's what everyone said about him not debating Biden. The thing is, as George Conway outlines, Trump is a malignant narcissist. He can't be seen as weak, and he has tremendous confidence in his abilities, rightfully thinking he beat Biden in the last debate. He can't be seen as the 'old man afraid of the younger black woman' he will debate no question.
