I live in DMV area and it's fun because of designated bike trails. This pandemic revealed the true necessity of Trails, as I see everyday how people jog run walk bike ets. Thank you rail to trail
Very inspiring! Helped me get motivated to go out and ride today in 20-degree weather before the blizzard tomorrow. :) I especially loved the closing: "We deserve to live the lives that we want to. Living in a way ...connected to the community and healthy for my body and mind".
Thanks for the inspiration girls, recently I have been so inspired by all the women who are heading out onto the trails and cross country to do races or trips in search of adventure advocating to get more people out there and onto bicycles myself included, Please keep pushing for trials we have some up here in Washington state that used to be old train tracks given to the county to be paved and made into bike trails when the rail roads went bankrupt these trails link communities and many small towns in our area but are limited nonetheless, we are looking to expand the trails with time but I have learned there are no trails in places like Los Angeles or SF, California where there are thousands more cyclist the need is greatest for the safety of cyclist who are biking to work or just to the store, this is the wave of the future so thank you for your help and support
I'm a Conservancy member and want to say what a beautiful video and I plan to start riding multiple trails next summer. Thank you for some great inspiration!.
I'd like to see a criss-crossing network of hike/bike paved trails all throughout the country. Only for hikers bikers,walkers ,joggers,roller bladers etc..just no motorized vehicles All along the path they could plant fruit trees and berry bushes. Have basic camping spots all along the way maybe on the side of the path. public restroom along the way at some regular interval.Maybe at different towns along the way there could be places where you can do some work to earn some credits like recycle or pick up trash so if anyone runs out of money along the way they can make a bit to tide them over. I think it could really be made a work of art if we focused time effort and money on it.

How can I get more information about where you work and the different trails I live in Bangor Maine while small town outside of that and I would like to know about more information on Trails Coast to Coast like what you guys did and how did you know how to take out other Trails off the adventure cycling route and where they would actually go and where they would bring you out near or on adventure cycling route that you had started out on I'm not sure if you understand what I'm trying to say

I am the editor of Rails to Trails magazine, and we developed this video (with Katie, who is now active with another organization that advocates for bicycling). Katie and Camrin used a modified version of the Northern Tier Route (a bike route developed by Adventure Cycling) and also used TrailLink.com (Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's trail-finder website) to also find great rail-trails to ride to along the route as well. I truly believe we are starting to see a Trail Economy starting. Where I live, they are building trails quickly and we are seeing bicycle tourism on the rise!
Nice video Katie, what was your average cost per day??? I'm am retiring soon, plan on riding the southern tier florida to california, then travel north up the pacific coast highway, and then I'm either going to alaska or come across the route you ladies took, I will be mounted on a Surely LHT with disc brake, what an amazing bicycle,hey you should go with me, plan on leaving march 2015, I will cover all your exspenses
What a dream trip. Bicycles are healthy exercise, fossil fuels free transportation and great for social distancing. More protected bike lanes are needed to encourage people to ride a bicycle safely. Enjoy life.
