Yes. The EV credit in general goes until 2032 but the eligibility for the credit changed in 2024 there fore the number of EV models qualifying for U.S. EV tax credits fell from 43 to 19 and that includes the model 3 rear wheel drive and also the long range. Currently only the performance is eligible for the tax credit. I hope Tesla will start sourcing their future battery components from " friendly countries" so that the credit will be available for consumers till 2032 when the credit is supposed to end altogether.
If you are thinking about a used model Y, definitely get something with a low mileage closer to the year 2023 if not 2023. But a new model Y is actually pretty affordable right now especially with the insane .99% on financed purchase. If you live in MN, currently there is a $2500 state tax rebate for new Tesla under $55000 which the model y is at $47990. If you live in a different state, find out if your state has any thing going on. That means, you can get a brand new MY longe range dual motor at $37990 plus tax and other fees with the $7500 federal tax credit for qualified buyers. Too much to factor in. Color is pretty subjective, I got the white one because I didn't have to pay any extra for it at the time. With Tesla you have to pay for paint choice. Currently for the model Y, the dark gray is free of cost, everything else has a price. Hope this helps.
Also, the $2500 in MN is first come first serve, if the fund runs out, you won't get any even though it is supposed to go till the year 2027. Good luck.
