Great reaction!! Love this episode! I am sure someone has already pointed it out, but Rodney was lying about Del's age to make him seem a lot older to Lisa. :) in the same way Del was making Rodney out to be a kid!
Always love your OFAH reaction vids in particular, but this one was even better than normal, as it had a lot of cut dialogue which I’ve never seen before, the biggest one being Albert singing the song. I know they had to cut a lot of episodes to get them to fit into a tv slot. Nice reaction dude.
I'm pretty sure that the dangers of sunbeds causing skin cancer wasn't known about back in the 80s. In fact they were generally promoted as being a safe alternative to using natural sunlight. Del can be a dick but there's no way he'd knowingly risk Rodney's life for a prank.
If Lisa was 25 and Rodney was a year younger, he's 24, which would make Del 37, as there is a 13 year age gap between him and Rod. Still 12 years older than Lisa, but I believe it's less than the gap between him and Raquel.
The characters’ ages fluctuate a bit across the earlier seasons as can happen when items early in the writing days. By the 50-minute episode seasons, Rodney is pretty definitively born in 1962, making him 26 going on 27 for that ‘89 season. Meanwhile, Trigger is indirectly stated to be 42 in a ‘91 episode, and as Del was in the same class, he seems to be born in 1948/49. Though that same episode also states Trig’s never-seen sister to be 39, or 34 in this episode, which cannot match with Lisa being 25 here for obvious reasons! 😅 But that’s character details fluctuating over the years for you. The age in this episode is pretty much just Rodney humiliating him further, so they used David Jason’s actual age, possibly as an in-joke. The character’s meant to be 38. Ironically, Nick Lyndhurst is almost Rodney’s age, born in ‘61.
I know it's supposed to be a big twist at the end but I still find it strange that at no point during their meal or when she introduced them to Andy did Lisa think to mention that she was engaged.
You mentioned the age gap. In the official canon, Rodney was born when Del was 16, and she's a year older than Rodney. So that would make Del just turn 46 while she's 30-31, that's not too crazy, still weird when he used to date her mum though. But also, the ages aren't actually fixed, sometimes Rodney is younger than the timeline says he should be. So if he is 25 when Del is 46 something is off, but that happens in the show.
@mattf9406 I'm sure Del has a line about "you couldn't come along a few years later like a normal brother you had to wait 16 years!" Or something like that. And in Rock and Chips Del has a moped when Rodney is born, making Del around 15-16. He's also told to leave school because he's in the final year and the school doesn't care about them. Like I say, it's not strictly accurate anyway. It fluctuates.
@@choomah pretty eure the age gap is 13, and that's the line you're thinking off. As for the moped, no idea as i didnt watch much of those 3 episodes of the spin off as after a fewof the first i thought it was dreadful. However i know the laws of moped drining have changed over the years, just like leaving school age has risen. Remember Rock would have been set in the 50s or 60s pretty sure the legal age for a moped back then was lower, especially when you consider school leaving age was 14.
@mattf9406 fairly sure in that series Del is 16. Could be wrong, but I'm sure he's 16. The series is very important if you care about "the lore" it has a bunch of info on Freddy the Frog.
@mattf9406 either way, even if the gap is less severe than 16yrs, my point stands that the age gap between Del and Trig's niece, isn't that weird, by the time Del is 46. She'll be in her 30s. And 40s and 30s isn't that wild. Main point was that the age gap isn't consistent. And if Del is 46 and the gap is anything 16 years or less, that makes her at least 30. 46 & 30(ish) isn't so wild. Maybe not great, bit weird, but not crazy.
Also, while this is only a comedy, there is no way Rodney would put his brother's life at risk in this way - even if he wanted to get back at him, there are other ways to go about it - it is so stupid! Reminds me of the insane actions of Kevin in Home Alone - it wants you to take the movie seriously, but defies disbelief at the end, when the burglers would have been killed! Comedy, yes, should be funny, but believable at the same time!
It's very clearly shown that Rodney wasn't expecting him to actually do it hence the shot of his reaction when Del actually takes off instead of swallowing his pride. Del chose to go ahead with it to 'save face' and avoid embarassment, nobody put his life at risk apart from himself
@@loba4207 Right, so Rodney's reaction was just "OH" as he watches his brother fly off a cliff almost to certain death! When Del says "Are you sure ?" and Rodney says "We ain't got a car phone" thst is when he ended his brother's life (in the real world, he'd be a dead man) Rodney still let del fly off the cliff, and he should have gone through with the idea with the phone call, let it play out a bit to scare him to thinking he would have to do it,... it's absurd! It was clear he knew Del would do it, and with his pride and dignity he spoke about, what other choice did Del have? Del could have said, he wasn't feeling well etc... but he stated it wasn't an option. He killed his brother which ever way you go round it!

i always forget that lisa was rosie from eastenders. they good a good job of making her look rough af in EE
Great episode where Rodney gets his own back! 😂

Just a friendly reminder to react to "Thicker the Water" S3xE8 (Christmas Special 1983) before "The Frog's Legacy" S5xE8 (Christmas Special 1987).

04:49 You mean the punk?
07:30 Thank goodness for that. It's not the same without his solo.

I think Del is only 38 or 39 in this episode, Rodney was trying to make him seem older than he was, he'd still be 13 years older than Lisa though
In real life David Jason would have been 45 or 46 since he was born in 1940 and that episode aired in 1986.

Does Del ever accept blame for anything?
The frogs legacy actually covers andy and Lisa's wedding so you did this just in time lol
Should do, still game , Scottish comedy x
Erm, he has done them all up to series 6
@@chrisduncan5842 has he I never noticed x
@@namelinzinaw3564 Really?
@@chrisduncan5842 he's done season 7 and 8 also.

Rodney wasn't born when del was 16. Their dad ran out on them on del's 16th...making rodney a few years old at the time.
