I love the way Dennis always includes Zach, even though he is on the camera and can't answer back. A lot of productions would just ignore the camera guy, but not Dennis; Dennis appreciates anyone who works their ass off and helps make the team a success. Zach certainly fits the bill on that account.

I love this episode. I use to live in Nashville, tn. I remember back in 1976 my brother just started driving for the first time and was looking for a car to buy and we found a 1969 cougar eliminator that had a big block 428 cu. Inch engine from the factory. The car was at Jim Reed Chevrolet dealership in Nashville. It was red with black strips on the side and a flat black hood with a cast iron hood scoop. It came that way from the factory. I remember when he started It up. The whole car shook and was pretty loud. Needless to say he didn't buy it. He ended up buying a 1972 Cuda 340 cu. with the pistol grip four speed instead. Imagine what these cars would be worth now. Good memories.

She was fast up to around 75, I moved up north and found another 70 gold XR7 in a junkyard when dating my future wife for $150, needed points. Same everything as first but had a cleveland 351. A friends dad had a 70 rs/ss split bumper camaro. Factory 402ci 4 speed car. black exterior/interior with gold strips. Chin splitter with the spoiler on the trunk. The car was imaculant. There wasn't a tear anywhere in the inside or a scratch outside.
So he got drug by a 2v cleveland powered maverick. He didn't want any from the 72 torino sport 429 bbf. He made the mistake of trying the cleveland.
Anyway my friends mom passed away from cancer, so his dad went off on a drug binge. He would constantly pawn the car and get it back. That went on for a while. Eventually he sold it pretty cheap for drug money. The guy that bought it borrowed the money from his dad. He Had his son say grandpa molested him, which was a lie. While the grandpa was in jail his son told him he was keeping the car and not paying back a dime that was loaned to him to buy it. So when they locked up the son, his father took a torch and cut the drivetrain out of the car 402/ m22 4 speed/ 12 bolt. My uncle paid $500 for all the drivetrain just to replace a rod knocking 454 in his dually.
The guy took the car to the salvage yard and watched them crush it.

I learned to drive on my dads '69 Chevy pick up, 3-on-the-tree. 1st new vehicle he ever bought. That truck never did quit. When he sold it in the '80s, the bed had rotted out, but that engine was still going.

Wow beautiful truck. Dad bought a 72 same colour, transmission was toast. Someone put loud cheap exhaust on it and slicksters on the rear end.
    350 V8 automatic.
Had the truck painted inside and out jet black, clear coat. Recovered the seat in black. Tinted the windows. New wood in the box. New transmission, Rally Wheels and a proper exhaust. And the Heartbeat of America decal (even if was GMC). No positrack no four barrel. "Baby".
Sold it to a friend from work cash money.

I had two 1968 Cougar XR7 GTs both 4sps one had head rests both 100% original right down to the shift knobs and both 3:25 rears, if I had only known the way things were going to go AND just a few miles away a 68 XR7 GTE (427) was pulled out of a guys garage after many years of sitting.

That was a 1 year only in 67 on the GTE. And unfortunately it was more or less just a 390pi with .160 over bore. Meaning it used the cast iron intake the same cam cast crank, and the 390 4 bbl rods. The heads were the late model truck heads as well
But a set of early C3's off a low riser a 428 pi intake and a good cam and a set of heads and 500hp is very easy. That is one of my personal favorites FE set ups. That combo with spin to 6800 and if you get some Scatt H beam rods and bump the duration on the cam a bit more it will spin 7800 and make 580hp+. And it will live. The FE is such a bad ass under rated piece it's a shame. I'll take a 427 Ford and eat every 454 bbc that is dumb enough to be embarrassed by less cubes. Go to utube and type in Holman Moody 427 mustang. 1 Ford go to the Corvette anniversary vintage race. And put it on the poll and never looked back. And every 427 vett just ran for first loser!! Take that bow tie boys!

Yea well Richard likes to have people to call and kick tires..... let's say he paid $7,500 for the truck and everybody knows and now he wants $15,500 each and every person is going to bad mouth him and get into the I know you only paid xxx for it and then it turns into a shit show....... doesn't matter what he paid for it or anything.....you don't realize he has employees, trucks, trailers, fuel, air fair, car rental gets it back they go through it brakes, shocks, tires, exhaust system, fuel tank sending unit and lines, battery time and materials aren't free. He's in business to make money not break even...you can do what he does go out look around look in back yards, barns, farms ect.
Do the research... back in the early 80s I was buying stuff like that truck and cougar out of back yards for anywhere from $200-$500 bucks....but now with the big wallet guys you can't get a father son project for under $15k and that's needing total resto rough but not scrap but really close to beyond repair..... and whoever started the patina thing spraying clear over the Rusty dented panels should be slapped...... you ran out of money or patience or both and got lazy.old cars and trucks are big business now they buy them restore them and put them in a garage where no one can appreciate them......the next time you see it it's on the auction at Barrett Jackson being bid up by someone with more money than brains..... sorry for the rant but I have watched the hobby go down hill for a long time now....see them at local car shows not knowing what end of a screw driver to use owning some beautiful machines....great show as always Dennis keep doing your thing
      👍👌✌️🇺🇸🇺🇲
