I'll bet you $10 that a couple of years from now we'll be seeing "7 years pixel updates" featured in the Killed by Google page. As per tradition.
I would put way more than $10 on that bet bc you are guaranteed to win big time. It's not even gambling. It's a near certainty.
Yeah sorry but I can't trust any of Google promises and honestly praising any Google promises is kinda a missinformation (I know I am streatching)
I'll bet you most of these Pixels don't even survive that long. Look up "Pixel 3 bricked reached lifecycle" and Google's official response -- they literally said that after 3 years of use, the RAM is basically designed to fail.
I will rather go with Fairphone which has a track record of going way beyond their own promises for longevity, than with Google who has the exact opposite reputation.
I was about to type the same
I love these talks so much.
Love this podcast!!
newer one UI really works well. I love their tie in with Windows for their texting app from desktop with "Your Phone" though if you use it from your desktop RCS does not work well with it, that needs some work. I love my Samsung S23 Ultra though I really only the Notes and Ultra for their screen size. So at this point they are at the largest I think they are going to go. I would go for a fold if there was no crease. Hoping for a scrolling phone screen eventually lol. Thanks for your great information.
Just as a reminder that Google is really good at breaking promises too! I would really like to believe and trust Google but their past record doesn't help their case here.
Breaking a promise like that would be pretty detrimental for pixel image. I hope other android brands follow that up so that it makes a new standard. And Google won't be tempted to go backwards
If they break something like this they can be sued to oblivion.
@@ghosthunter0950 if that’s true then they might be in big trouble for pixel pass
looks to me like those where the balloons that Apple shows for birthdays. Either your own or when you send "happy birthday" to someone. Did someone on the episode accidentally out their birthday???
My question is if he records it using an iPhone or iPad cause maybe when one does a certain move (which I have no idea what it is) it just enables it. I know stuff like hands ✋ appear in WebEx meetings for example
It’s a new feature of iOS 17. There are several hand gesture effects you can trigger in video calls.
It just happens when you throw a peace ✌sign on macOS lol
@@jonaharagon ahh, cause peace = balloons 🤨🤣
Fairphone 5 will get 8 to 10 years of updates and actually have a processor that qualcomm is supporting for that long ( the pixel hasn't)
Reality Check: Given the astronomical price of phones today, added to the appalling environmental and human cost of producing them, a 7 year lifecycle is just abysmal. On top of this, it is left up to individual consumers to figure out how to dispose of them safely, once their extremely SHORT lifespans are over. The companies who make billions selling these products bear NO RESPONSIBILITY for managing the waste they generate, and bear none of the cost burden they levy on the world.
Those random balloons appearing haha
I can't speak to ecosystems, or even porprietary software bloat, but one thing Samsung does VERY well is hardware. My first Samsung phone lasted over 8 years, and I only quit using it because the charger plug won't stay in anymore.
I wish Calyx offered a Samsung OS, I miss my Samsung device.
11:16 haha LMAO 🤣
This will never happen. Google always yanks the football. I am done. No marketing stunt will convince me to buy another piece of google HW.
Google needs to be more assertive in their decisions... I liked Google plus, Yahoo (loved their yahoo 360 their attempt at a social network) screwed up with their decisions look where they are.
The first third of the video was interesting, though they could talk more about the details, not only the superficial stuff. For example: why they dont care so much about privacy, freedom and vendor lock-in. the rest is only boring apple fan boi trash talk. ❤
I used to like samsung. I want a new phone platform, Samsung is like Apple to me more and more now, I'm tired of Samsung, oem locking, loss of features on newer models, inexplicably slow speeds on relatively new models like the s21.
