- Named after a war hero of the 1948 Kashmir war, Capt Karnal Sher Khan's bravery was praised by the Indian officers whom he fought against during the 1999 Kargil war.
On this 24th death anniversary, his brother Anwar Sher shares the real story of a Kargil hero who saved Pakistan.

@@HaiderAli-uc3nb plz read any unbiased report on his shahadat and events that occured afterwards UpTo arrival of his body in Pakistan. Refusal of not his body but many others coz Pakistani military didn't want to take any responsibility regarding the operation.

I remeber indian Soldiers and generals... Praised , Col Sher Khan, and indian. Forces wrote a letter to pakistani authorities to decorate him with the Highest medals

My uncle was Lance Naik in 18 Grenadiers. He was posted in Sopore for CT and latter deployed to Kargil. His company was tasked to capture hight adjacent to Tololing.During thier 2nd attempt they went from the opposite more steep side. He was tasked to remove the machine gun and his buddy would grenade the position. But when they reached the top machine gunner spotted them and started firing. But my uncle tied bandage in his hands as machine gun barrel would be hot and they the gun down and his buddy bombed the bunker. They found hand to hand and he bayoneted two Pakistani soldiers and his buddy captured a Pakistani soldiers. Later they came to known that this guy was from SSG. His service id said he was from Chhatal punjab. They had rations worth whole year. They had Milk powder, chick pea , dried fish and meat, flour. Later they brought 4 bodies and captured soldiers to camp. His CO told him to stitch leg of died soldier as mortal remains were to be returened to Pakistani family.
But Pakistan refused to accept that they were thier soldier and disowned the SSG guy. Later captured soldier were dived into small numbers and sent to jail all around India.Chatal guy was sent in Yerwada jail.
My uncle retired form Army in 2017 and is still scared from death of his fellow soldiers. He is a farmer now and has his own poultry and fishiries.

@@NishadKelkar I think Sanjay kumar was in JAK Rifles. As Pakistani army captured more than 100 posts when Indian army vacated during winters. But Modus Operandi was same as artillery cannot reach most posts. So Indian Army had to manually remove Pakistani troops from heights

In kargil war Pakistani army lost 1060 soldiers and India lost 530 soldiers

According to Nawaz Sharif 3000 died in Kargil. He was the PM of Pakistan at that time. Mostly troops were from NLI.
