    A fantastic compilation of useful ChemE softwares! I think it quite interesting to see how software is becoming more important and even taught as part of ChemEng degrees too! Great work Emmanuel 👏

    For process systems engineering julia (programming) and gProms (simulation and more) are becoming popular. Specifically for optimization GAMS and JuMP are very powerful.

    Regarding process simulators, I have seen quite some interest lately in Aveva Process Simulator. It sort of branches out from ProII but it became its own thing and is quite good in seamlessly switching from SS to dynamics

    Hi Emmanuel, good list of softwares, some of them not used in a daily basis. It would be very interesting if you can show also how to use most of them (maybe a course 😏) applied to specific cases. The most interesting will be the open source ones, of course 😂 great job, see you!

      A lo mucho aprender a usar Google docs.

    • @ChemicalEngineeringGuy
      @ChemicalEngineeringGuy  Рік тому +1

      Well, that may be the issue in some specific industries, in which safety and hazard issues may be present. You will simply be discarded on that reason alone... But there are a LOT of fields which will allow you to be color blind and have no problem at all... For instance, may Process Engineering Roles may be ok with that!

      Depends on your job position! If you are into data science with ChemE, you will use it a lot, if you are programming PLC or maybe automation/Control, you may use it as well.... Maybe in optimization or so as well... In the day to day life, it may not be used at all, so itsh ard to answer this without further context

    When do you use aspen hysys instead of aspen plus? I used both in my bachelors but still do not understand why one over the other or if it’s just preference

    • @arturopalacio7964
      @arturopalacio7964 Рік тому +2

      Although there is a LOT of overlap between both, HYSYS is more focused for oil&gas industry (e.g. easier generation of hypothetical comps for oil&gas assays).Aspen Plus focus is on chemical processes (highly customizable thermo). Some other features may also be differentiators such as dynamic modeling (HYSYS does it in the same GUI, Aspen Plus needs to export to A+ Dynamics), or Equation Oriented models.

    • @ChemicalEngineeringGuy
      @ChemicalEngineeringGuy  Рік тому

      truly, it is most likely that you use HYSYS or Plus depending on what they are using in your company/industry... Selection is personal, in most cases, if you are into fine chemical -> aspen plus... if you are into oil and gas, HYSYS is a better fit
