Dutch King Declares End of the Welfare State

The King of the Netherlands has informed his country that their welfare state is finished.
King Willem-Alexander, alongside his wife, Queen Maxima, told the Dutch people that they must create their own social and financial safety nets, and that looking to the state for help was a thing of the 20th century. The speech was part of the monarch's annual address on the day the government presents its budget.
Recent polls show confidence in the government at a record low and that most Dutch people believe the cabinet's austerity policies are at least partially to blame. The Dutch economy is expected to have shrunk by more than one percent in 2013, and is worsening while recoveries are underway in Britain, Germany and France.

So...the King, who receives 1.1 million dollars in tax payer dollars, plus an addition 100 million for palace "upkeep", feels there's no irony in telling others they can't expect support from the state?

The dutch king and fam are in the top ten of richest corporate plunderers,
they own a huge part of Shell, and whatever else.
I doubt if the dutch people pay for their keep.
Few dutch people are orangists, only a handful of zombies are.

@@starsbydaylight , but all Dutch people have to pay taxes, and lots of stuff that king willy could easily pay for himself, is instead payed from tax money.

This is both good and bad, it will be really harsh for people who lose their jobs, but it will kick all the lazy people in the ass making them productive again.

Holland and Germany have the busiest ports in Europe because they receive a huge amount of containers from Asia....Rotterdam is 1st in all over Europe and 7th-8th globaly!!You understand why Holland was so rich in the past decades,it was not only the New York-Rotterdam connection.
Well this will change cause South Europe ports will take many of these containers.Mediterranian ports are getting larger and larger(China invests in them).From 2021 Rotterdam will start loosing a LOT of money and investments so the state of Holland will have to make cuts.Maybe thats why the Dutch King's warning
