I am learning to drive with a 3rd gen Sportage. I did not expect this to handle well for what it is. It does have the name sport in the model after all and the suspension definitely fits the category. My biggest concern are the A and C pillars you mentioned. It was troublesome to look for pedestrians on some T intersections because of the A pillars. It was difficult at first reversing with huge C pillars. Other than that, it is easy to drive. I wish manual was available in North America but the automatic will do.
