Thank you for another great reaction! This is my favourite song from her first album "Amira", such a beautiful song almost as beautiful as Amira herself in body and soul! Cheers from Australia.
Did you notice in the beginning there was a lot of audience background noise. 30 seconds into it they have all gone quiet. The Amira effect. Great reaction great performance.
Oh! Paul, another performance to close our eyes and calm down. She is an Angel. What a way to end the day for you and how enjoyable was this morning that you just gave us (Amira, Lara, Dimash,...). Thank you for everything and take care 👏
Great reaction! This song is actually a soprano aria from the opera Rusalka, by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák. The main female character is a rusalka, who is a nymph (a kind of mermaid) of lakes, part of Slavic mythology. Here she sings to the moon about her love for the prince, whom she always sees passing by on horseback. This European mythology inspired the movie The Little Mermaid. The instrumental part is reminiscent of Disney films precisely because Walt Disney always looked to classical music for inspiration. In this concert Amira sings the English version of the lyrics. It's not easy to sing such an aria in the Db4-Bb5 range, covering practically the entire fourth and fifth octaves. Amira has always been in great demand to sing in celebratory or memorial concerts.
Yes I must agree this Journey Amira is on does appear to be inspired. I bought her first CD recorded on the SONY label a year before. The album is stunning. Her friend Alma Deutscher said to the audience at the Carnegie Hall that she wants to make the World more beautiful through music. You have already shared the event where the two friends sang a duet of the stepsisters in England and Amira spent the night at the Deutscher house. Those two, full of mischief chose to sleep that night in the treehouse. I like to think they came up with a plan to brighten up the World using what talent God had blessed them with. Those two seem to be "on a mission". All the best, from the UK.
A Quote from Amira: “I get these compliments, like ‘Your voice is amazing. You are amazing’ but I’m like, ‘Yes, but it’s not really my voice. It has been gifted to me. It’s this generous gift, and the only goal I have is to use it in the right way. the way that it was meant to be used. My faith is extremely important to me, because that is what has brought me this gift to share with everyone”
There were veterans who had been involved in the liberation of Holland in WWII over in Holland at the time and this concert was part of that comemoration. They were Canadian veterans I think.
Thank you for all the emotional reactions to my favorite singer! The aria "Song to the moon" is my favorite piece from Amira's first album entitled "Amira". At that time her voice was already outstanding, just her English pronounciation was a bit - - - weird - - - from time to time. ;-) In April 2023, 8 years later, Amira sang this aria again, on a private event in Amsterdam/Netherlands. Just compare and be amazed again: ua-cam.com/video/kKVfcDO--YA/v-deo.html
