Just got an Apollo 4 stage and a 7700 gun. Just did my first full paint job with it. Base was metallic and went on great. Hardly any overspray. Used less paint than conventional. The clear coat was a high solids, but think I will use med next time with a slow act. Did get more peel than I like in areas. So i'm wetsanding and buffing. Which I usually do anyway. I usually get a good amount of dust mibs...not with the turbine. I did all my usual cleaning and prep. The lower pressure maybe not stirring up dust? Had it set to 6.2 psi. I think 9 is max on this model. Still working on the clear settings, but I will get it figured out with more use. My intent was to convert fully to turbine spraying.(home based shop)
Fantastic, and congratulations on your first full paint job with Apollo turbine! You'll definitely have paint left over for lots of other stuff to paint. Less nibs for sure because the air in the room is not getting so stirred up. Less bounce back when spraying and less exhaust to filter. Get the A-air cap works really well with clear. 42% solids clears like 6psi, 47% solids clears like 6.5psi -7psi, and 51% solids clears like 7psi with 1.0mm needle tip. The 0.8mm works great with most stuff, but gets choked up with the higher solids. Custom shorten your rubber hose from the PPS to spray gun - less wrap around and less collecting of paint dust to land on panel -I think it has faster response at trigger pull. Also, tighten your fan ring about 6-7 notches in - this helps tighten the fan pattern at the trailing edge of fan and prevents less texture on previous paint pass. Converting to fully turbine spraying is game changing for the home based shop - so much easier and more efficient. Wet sanding and buffing is always the normal for show style paint - we want gloss and depth. Thank you for watching the videos.
@@JakeLesada thanks for the response and info. I was indeed using the 0.8 tip! I have an A cap a cc cap, B cap and C cap. I will take your advice and not use the 0.8 with a higher solids clear. This was a first time clearing with a turbine system, so next time my goal is same clean results but a less peel overall. But I am fully in on the turbine system and have more jobs coming up that will get be 100 % Apollo system. 👍
