Well...
I was bored. I didn't go to college today and there was nothing better to do in the afternoon, so I recorded this just so I can say I have 1CCs of all 3 Eds in this game uploaded to my UA-cam channel. What's next, multiplayer with all 3 Eds? Maybe, but that'd mean I'd somehow have to convince two of my friends to play this game with me. They probably wouldn't want to be friends with me anymore after playing this.
To be fair, playing this game as Eddy is probably the closest it'll ever get to being competent, because he has a viable and fast attack on the ground. It means that most enemies the other two Eds have to engage with Aerials (which knocks enemies down which means you have to wait for them to get up), Eddy can engage with his Normals, which is way faster and way more efficient.
Eddy's Aerial attack, however, is a double edge sword. It's the most damaging Aerial in the game with the strongest knockback, but unlike Ed and Edd's, it's not Frame 1, so you can't use it to get out of a pinch. The hitbox of it is also a bit too high up, which means Eddy trades with grounded enemies he's engaging often (you can see this being a big issue during Stage 5). Strangely enough, Eddy's Aerial attack causes however gets hit by it to do collaterals, which means you often hurt every enemy on the screen if it's crowded, however sometimes you also hit yourself with the collateral?... It's very odd, it probably wasn't programmed right, assuming this is not a bug to begin with. The tremendous knockback of his Aerial attack also means that if you knock someone off screen, it takes ages for them to come back. Ugh. However, due to its strength, this is by far the best way of dealing with the Ghosts in Stages 4 and 7 which by far are the most annoying enemies in the game. They're made quick work of by this attack.
You know, playing with all of the 3 Eds made me realise something strange... all of the 3 playable characters are better at dealing with certain things in this game than others. It's odd, but seeing how much better some of them are at certain stages than others is, to me, a surprisingly compelling way of getting you to play through the game with all 3 of them to see how they're different, or playing through the game on Multiplayer so you can combine their strengths and get the best run possible. This doesn't suddenly make this game good or anything, but it's clever. Given how sub-par this game is in general, I wasn't expecting to see neat design like this. Well, there's always the possibility this wasn't intentional, but... I'll give the creator some credit here and say it was. The Eds are never complete if they're not together in their Adventures, after all.

I remember seeing gameplay of this back in the day and I thought it was an official arcade beat-em-up game of Ed Edd n Eddy.
I spent part of my childhood wishing I had this game when I was young. I didn't even know what was going on at the time but this looked like such a fun game. I was under the impression you had to buy it because I couldn't find this game for some reason but thanks for uploading this, I knew I remember this game from somewhere.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the game again. This game has become unobtainium in recent years so I'm glad it has become immortalised through these videos.

@@austinharvey7644 You can certainly find this game for download if you dig around. For some reason, the availability of it goes up and down, since sometimes you can just find it easily on Google, sometimes you really have to go into some pretty back alley sites to find it.

I'm not gonna lie. This was a pretty fun fan game.
For being a game made by one guy in 2005, it's at least playable which isn't something you can say about most fangames from the Early-to-Mid 2000's. While there are much better OpenBOR Games, if you like Ed Edd N Eddy (and frankly, don't we all?) It can be an enjoyable game even if it is pretty barebones
Kinda weird there's only one fan game of Ed Edd n Eddy... You'd figure there'd be more.
@@Mike14264 there actually are more ed edd n eddy fangames but they are pretty hard to find now practically almost no one makes ed edd n eddy fangames these days I'm pretty much one of the last users to make an ed edd n eddy fan game as of current I've restarted up development of my ed edd n eddy rpg game in rpg maker mz as I started development of it back in late 2012 in vx ace. Theres also Grim Edventures which is another ed edd n eddy rpg game created in mv by Lakitom who was able to somehow use the ed edd n eddy jawbreakers sprites and the gba billy and mandy sprites for rpg maker currently that game has a long demo and the creator is working real hard on it, so its pretty much just me and laki tom thats working on ed edd n eddy fangames.

If only it supported 3 players to have all the Eds fighting side by side, then it would've been the perfect fanservice
I think technically the game supports 3-player co-op?... I just haven't really found a way to get that working. You can set up controls for up to 4 players (like you can in any BoR-type game) and you can go into the options and allow up to 3 players, I just never managed to get actually get the third player to join despite all that.
@@FamilyTeamGaming The System Options clarify that only a maximum of 2 players is supported, the only way to change this would be to modify the game directly.
@@RangerQwerty It doesn't sound hard to do, since it's very easy to extract all the contents of the .pak file the game comes in. From there, I guess someone with expertise in BoR could easily modify the game. I'm not one of them, though.
@@FamilyTeamGaming So it turns out I'm kinda dumb, I downloaded the latest version of open bor when I first got into it, and it doesn't allow you to change the player count in the game's options. The older versions that this game was made for, allow you to toggle a 4 player mode in the options, so it turns out the Eds could all spam their jump attacks together this whole time.

Yes, that's arguably the biggest weak point of this game. It does indeed have a huge variety of environments and enemies to fight against, but since all you can do is whack at them with one single option for attack, there's no actual variety in the engagements.

@@jf4132 I was still decently young when this game came out and it came out at the height of the show's popularity. I liked it, but yeah, it should've been better.

TL;DR (and I guess adding to the review, too) the game is just a novelty.
Story wise, there's not much going on, which is funny considering in all of these videos, cutscenes take up about half the runtime of the video. It's just a plot about the Kankers traveling across time while kidnapping the kids of the Cul-de-sac, so the Ed trio must chase after them and beat up a bunch of unrelated enemies until they finally fight them in the end. The conversations in the cutscenes really aren't anything special, it mostly just follows the dialogue from the episode they were taken from somewhat closely; any dialogue that is completely original here is really goofy.
I guess presentation wise, you can say it's nice. It's really colourful, everything looks how it should be, the sound effects are nice (straight from the show) and there are even some jams in the soundtrack to be honest (although none of it was made by the author except the one bizarre original track that plays in the Title Screen and in 1-2/1-3, which sounds like something that'd get stuck in your head after a fever dream). Leading this into the graphics, I guess you can only judge Stages 1 and 8, since they're the only ones that were made by author (I think) and they look faithful to the GBA EEnE game. I like the decision to use Chunky Puffs as the "apple" health item.
All in all, I guess it's an alright distraction of a game if you are willing to skip all the cutscenes. It's really not something you should prioritise playing over something like Streets of Rage 2, though.
Hopefully one day I can gather a group of talented programmers on the Openbor engine so we can make a mod based off of Kim Possible
That is *probably* overkill. OpenBor is not really that complciated or deep to warrant that.

Huh... I see this game has suddenly become quite scarce, hasn't it? Up until a few years ago, downloads for this game were relatively easy to find. Nowadays it seems nearly all of them are dead.

How can I play this
A 1CC of an incredibly old and obscure EEnE fangame. Can't say I'm 100% shocked. Good work though, I remember this game being a bitch.
It's not that hard of a game, there's no opposition that spamming your air attack won't get you through. It has a lot of questionable design here that would make a No Miss really difficult, but the game is really lenient with extra lives.
So, with all that said...
...did anyone understand the "story"? Or rather, at least the ending? I know it's all mostly a mishmash of other episodes, but still.
I genuinely do not think there is that much of a story going on aside from, very vaguely...
Enemies from all across the world and different times in history start to invade the Cul-de-sac and the Eds invent a time machine to investigate and rescue the kids. In the end, they find out the Kanker sisters are somehow involved in some extremely nonspecific way and ultimately save the day. The Eds become famous among the kids of the Cul-de-sac for their feats and they want to take pictures of them.
THAT is by far my best interpretation of what it's supposed to be.

Ending sucks. The Ed’s lose? Come the fuck on! And it didn’t make any sense! They won the final battle but are forced into drag? Wtf? The worst part of this show was the Ed’s always losing.
I'm fairly sure that's not necessarily what happened. Not that this game makes a whole lot if sense to begin with, but I believe what it's trying to show is that the Eds are seen as heroes by the kids and they want to take pictures of them, much to their chagrin. The continuity is very hard to follow when the "story" is told through the medium of random edited screenshots from the show glued together into a slideshow.
Agree, that gag was always the worst part of the show. But hey at least they didn't lose at the end of the May I have this Ed? Episode.
