This legacy/lesson were never taught by two other megalomanic leaders thereafter.
He make one more, mayby even bigger mistake. When he defeat Russia in battle of Narve he didn't attck thair capitol. Instead he decide to start long campain in Poland. Thanks this russians could create new army and defeat him in battle of Poltava.

The song is baised on the mystery surrounding the death of King Charles XII during the Great Northern War when Charles was killed by a shot to the head during the siege of Fridrekshald. To this day no one knows if the shot a result of enemy fire, friendly fire, or an assassin in Charles' own ranks

You know, I am not even Swedish but I can't help but say long Live the king. He sounds and looks like an actually incredibly kind King and an honorable man.
Carolus rex is latinized name for king Charles XII of sweden, who reigned from 1697 to 1718. He assumed crown at the age of fifteen, and most of his 20-years of reign was during Great Northern War, so most of his his life he spent on battlefield. He was killed during his campaign in Norway, in the siege of Fredriksten, when he got shot in the head by an unknown person.

King Charles XII, aka Karl XII, Carlous Rex, the Swedesh Meteor or Charles the Great. The song is about his death at the Siege of Fredrikshald during the Great Northern War where its believed he was killed by a sniper in the fortress since at the time he was near the fort, others say he was hit by shrapnel from an exploding shell others say a Swedish soldier may have thought he was the enemy, others say he was assassinated by one of his body guards in the pay of his ambitious brother in law

The rumour is that when Karl saw the lands abandoned by Peter the Great he said "My god, how can a king do this to his own people?" Probably apocryphal, but would have been an accurate assessment of most any Russian Tsar. But Kings were kings and the daily burdens of peasants never really burdened their conciences.

He was wounded in a skirmish and his generals didn't know any better to get better intelligence and they made poorly coordinated attack. So technically it was his generals faults because most of the before and during the battle, they didn't know what they were doing. Just like with Napoleon at Waterloo, his main General Marshal Ney may have been brave, but he wasn't the smartest person on the planet, he should have know better than to send the whole French cavalry at the British postilion without infantry support. Sweden is lucky to have such great Kings who are not only monarchs, but warriors, and fight alongside there men. I can't say for all, but I know full well that both Charles Xll and Gustavus Adolphus
