I am very sorry for the loss of your friend, what a beautiful tribute to her to remember her through your enjoyment of books. May God bring you and those who love her peace.
Awe, that's so sad about Alice... I had only subscribed to her channel a couple of months ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the Jennifer Chiaverini quilt books ( I have made several quilts over the years). Even if you don't quilt, the friendships and even some history are very entertaining. The first book is The Quilters Apprentice. I'll be curious to hear your review! Until next time, happy reading 📚📖
Hi Mitzi - I recently picked up a copy of Jennifer Chiaverini's 'Christmas Bells' - it's a Christmas story about Henry Wadsworth Longellow, beautiful cover. I too have collected the quilt series but don't have nearly half of them yet. Enjoy!
Thank you for the news about Alice...I watched her off and on for years, but not recently and was shocked to learn about her death. The grief on your face brought tears to my eyes.
Alice will be sorely missed. I was shocked and saddened by her passing. I will miss her presence at the FOMO Book Club meetings. I'm not even sure if the book club will continue in her absence. Alice was a sweetheart. 💜 Yay, on finishing your Nancy Drew project. I've read up to book 4 so far. Talking about Shakespeare, in June for the Cozy Cottage Book Club, I read A Stage Full of Shakespeare Stories: 12 Tales From the Bard Retold for Children by Angela McAllister and really enjoyed it. I'd love to read more Dickens, but those big books keep his books on my shelf. 🤣 I'm still working on my Agatha Christie 2.0. You are doing fantastic with your reading this year, Mitzi! Bravo! 👏
I know I miss Alice two she inspired me to read certain Agatha Christie novels and she always was so cool we will all miss her and let me just say you are such a wonderful book UA-camr two and you have such a wonderful bookshelf
So sorry for your loss, Mitzi. A wonderful way to keep alive the memory of a friend through the things that you both loved, in this case, books. Sending you a big hug from Chile 🌹
Sending condolences Mitzi. I am amazed at the connections we form through watching people on Book Tube. I guess it's because you open a part of your life to us and we share the same interests. I want you to know I am grateful. Thank you.
Hi Mitzi, I love listening to and getting recommendations from your channel. I am also reading through Dickens. I have found a British narrator of Dickens on UA-cam named Mil Nicholson that is wonderful. She vocalizes all the characters with all various British social class accents appropriate to the specific character. I like to listen and follow along with the book. I think she has narrated all of Dickens. You might want to check her out. Happy Reading!
Wow, you have certainly read a lot of books this year. How many was that? I'm a slow reader and manage a book a month if it is big. I read a couple of small ones to break that frustration. I get into Victober and Jane Austen July. We have lost three booktubers this year. And Sarah from the Bookish Knitter is going thru a heart transplant. She lives in Canada. I have been praying for her, the sweetest girl in the world.
What a wonderful way to celebrate Alice by continuing on with your Ray Bradbury reads. ❤ I read Bleak House last year and I had to print out a Character List because I just could NOT keep up with who was who! 😆 I also read 3 works of Shakespeare for the first time last year and LOVED them! (I read: Macbeth, Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet) I really should read another one soon and I love the idea of reading a nonfiction on Shakespeare, too! 📚 I'm always up for an Agatha Christie and like you, I try to read/reread at least one per month. I love her so much, they're such comfort reads to me! 🤓 A series that I'm hoping to finish this year is the Six Wives series from Alison Weir. I read the one about Anne of Kleve a couple months ago, so that's 4 wives down, 2 to go! 😂 Thank you for sharing. ❤
Les Mis is my Bleak House this year. It's taking me MONTHS to read it, and I'm also using the Big Book Summer Challenge to get it done! You're doing great with all your goals!
Condolences on the loss of your friend. You are making good progress on your reading challenges. And don't worry about missing a prompt, you have lots of time to still fulfill it.
❤📚 I'm sorry you're struggling with the loss of Alice. She will be missed. The Mercy duology sounds good, adding to my list. I took Shakespeare in school and loved it, but without the teacher explaining points of the stories I'm not sure I'd understand all that's going on. I started Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens June first and just hit fifty percent mark, but I think it has helped me enjoy it so much more!! It's a very good book! Good luck to you with your tomb! 😊 I have Pearl in the Sand by Tessa Afshar, but still need to read it! You've really done well so far. I'm participating in Big Book Summer, Read Your Bookshelf and The Buzzword Challenge. I've completed and enjoyed each challenge, so far. 😊
Mitzi, I am truly sorry that you have lost such a wonderful booktube friend. I think we can establish some wonderful friendships here even though we may never meet in person. You, my friend, are precious to me.
So sad about the loss of Alice... I wasn't subscribed to her channel, but have heard several booktubers mention her this week. Speaking of reading all of one author's works, I know you enjoy DE Stevenson.... (I do too) I think you'd love Catherine Cookson's novels. I think she wrote something like 100! I'm working my way through her books, and they have all been wonderful! It's going to take me a while!
Mitzi, you always seem so happy and bubbly and kind and like you absolutely just love life. What is your secret? How do you keep yourself positive and upbeat?
Have you read FrenchmenCreek?I have not but Miranda Mills recommended it as a summer suspense novel. I know you watch Miranda too! I was wondering if you would want to do a buddy read of Frenchmen’s Creek with me? But I am thinking next year! I feel like my bookish dance card is already getting full for 2024! And I know Miranda likes seasonal reads but frankly sometimes I like to read wintery reads in summer (cuz I hate the heat!) or summer reads in winter (cuz winter is dragging on!). Hang on it is Frenchman’s Creek but for some reason either my phone or youtube is being wonky and won’t let me correct! I am sad about Alice’s tragic death. I did not know her well but I knew you read with her. My deepest condolences for losing a dear buddy reader. May she rest in peace.
I am very sorry for the loss of your friend, what a beautiful tribute to her to remember her through your enjoyment of books. May God bring you and those who love her peace.
So sorry about Alice 😢
Thanks, Sonia. She'll be greatly missed. ❤

Thanks you so much. I'm so grateful for you, too. ❤
Bleak House is so so long! Don't even worry about not finishing it lol! I struggled through it.

oh, thanks!
I also like listening and reading along with the actual book. I will check her out.

Right?? I know Dickens wrote complex plots, but all of those characters!!
Les Mis is my Bleak House this year. It's taking me MONTHS to read it, and I'm also using the Big Book Summer Challenge to get it done! You're doing great with all your goals!
Thanks! Yeah, Bleak House has been a real project, but I'm determined to finish this summer, too!
Condolences on the loss of your friend.
You are making good progress on your reading challenges. And don't worry about missing a prompt, you have lots of time to still fulfill it.
Thanks- I'm so glad you offered this challenge because it's been such a fun way to read the books on my shelf!
Yes, Merchant of Venice is so good! It's my favorite Shakespeare!
I had no idea what it was even about, but I loved it!
❤📚 I'm sorry you're struggling with the loss of Alice. She will be missed.

I've already read Frenchman's Creek, but I'd be happy to reread it! There's a lot to discuss with that one. Just let me know when.
