Genius idea, will save me from headaches in the future. Great idea as usual.
This is perfect. I made the main supports for the splitter on my car from the frame rails so the splitter will pivot if it hits anything, but I’ve just been sacrificing the splitter rods. I’ll be ordering a set when they go into production
Sounds good. They are technically in production, but waiting on the machine shop.
I swear I love everything you do. Who else would test their splitter rod by lifting the back of their car?
Verifying that you can left at least 400lbs with just one rod shows that you can have a splitter that produces 2000lbs of down force and only need about 5 of these rods. Although I'm 100% sure you (I'm assuming at least 200lbs) could have sat on the trunk of that car.
Sweet
why not use cables? ive been using bicycle cables there for decades.
Great product
yup i need a set
PRO TIP !!!! When you are not using the "key" in the chuck.... NEVER leave the key in the chuck. Always leave it on the table.
Im looking at ordering these for my 13 boss 302 along with the biscuits. Do these attach to the biscuits or to the splitter for best use.
We recommend the splitter only so the biscuits can be swapped. You don’t want to grind through the biscuit and then nothing is holding the splitter rod and splitter.
Very cool setup! Would love to see carbon version just because, but I like that set up quite a bit.
I can look into it.
@@ajhartmanaero Im just saying to do it cause its carbon and thats what you do although I cant imagine there are any upsides to using a carbon rod in this situation save for looks. Youre the best to ask, given that CF will bend and shatter versus aluminum and steel just bending and staying bent, would there potentially be any safety concerns running CF rods?
@@mattnsac yeah. I think the wall thinness would be an issue along with cost.
prefect timing, i need new rods and FTR fell the fuck off the map.
Yeah. Part of the reason I decided to start offering them is cause of that.
Question.. Why not use struts from a trunk lid? There are a ton of lengths and I think their plenty strong.
I’ve heard of people doing that. For diy stuff and one offs it’s a possible solution. Adjustability is an issue tho.
Also a set of s550 bracket so I don't have to drill though my bumper.
Next video should be the splitter mounting video so you’ll see exactly how they are set up.
Would these also work if you drilled them into the bumper ?
I'd recommend not to since the plastic of the bumper flexes and doesn't have much strength.
Could you make a set for expansion also? I have a set on the back side of my splitter that would have the opposite requirement
Possibly. I’m not quite following why you’d want the back to go down tho.
Because the fulcrum is in the center of the splitter instead of clear at the back
@@Philness if your splitter is infinitely stiff but that’s highly unlikely. But you could just use tension springs instead of compression springs.
I would like a set as usual jam up video
Or you could just use wire rope (i.e. cables).
If you don’t care about how it looks, sure.
