    Heard about this in 2002. There is one big problem using this technology and that is that birds that sits on the high power lines and dig trough the cable with their nails.

    What will happen if lightning strike occurs? I think Optical fiber cable will get destroyed/damaged completely if lightning happens. Sky wrapping of OFC with earth wire should not be a good solution since the lightning will damage optical fiber cable resulting loss in connectivity through fiber break if lightning occurs. I see this one is the only weak point in this technology otherwise this is the fantastic solution.
    Correct me if I am wrong.

      Just asked the same question. Sometimes lighting strikes are so powerful (like positive lighting) that they make the shield wire smoke or even explode.
