I can't imagine the patience you have to have to do this! Our city is starting their own fiber network, and I see trucks w/ trailers like this all over town. Now I know what they are doing! Hats off to them!
It's kind of crazy to think this will be in service over the next few decades. Only a few people will ever see it in person, but a few thousand will see dudes work because of UA-cam.
love the honesty of this video - agreed suppliers and even our own precurement staff, just don't get how how much a small part change or a wrong item can ruin your whole flow. Lucky you had a spare.
thanks for watching and commenting i really appreciate it. yea always have to keep spare parts and stock around. never know what your gonna run into in the field
Overall good work, but a few tips. The center tube is intended to run at least half way into the basket, the reason being is the only strength member supports are in that tube, with a wrap of 3m electrical tape over the cut end to prevent and fibers snagging on the exposed end that contains the fiberglass strength members. Also, Tyraps aren't to directly come into contact with the bare SWR ribbons in the basket, you must wrap velcro around the bundle where the tyraps will go. This was the method developed directly with the Fujikura engineers that came over from Japan and T3lus at the SWR launch back in 2016/2017. Good call on pushing the binder wraps up the tubes, saves time and no way you can transpose the tubes when traying!
Nice what brand you thinking? I would suggest summitomo. Thanks for watching gonna be releasing some new style videos soon have been deploying my own internet lately
A good trick i learned a long time ago is to use a small funnel when threading the fiber into the tubes, they are very cheap and I carry it in my tool box.
I enjoy watching in real time the process of building up these cases. I vote to call the tray holder the "ladder", but I'm sure it has an official name hah.
yea no problem ill show that in the next up coming videos i have a few new foscs to be built both underground and arial as well as manhole these videos will come on the weekend
Yes it’s a possibility are you looking for in person training or online training. Also how would you like to chat directly to discuss further details? you can always reach me directly through the patreon and UA-cam membership
What type of glue are you using? I've spliced this garbage, in my opinion, a ton and normally use alcohol to keep the 'ribbon' intact during splicing. You said it rolls closed in the heat shrink and it does but I my end to end loss testing has been perfect. I'll admit it looks funky inside the sleeve. Sumi reps claim if it burns well it'll shrink well to
It is AFL ribbonizing glue and yea I totally agree with you can defiantly do it without the glue and it will heat shrink alright I just like to add the glue to ensure it stays together and doesn’t overlap in the shrink and plus I’m billing for ribbonizing so just out of respect for the customer since I’m charging them for it i just add it.
@@fibersplicegod Fiberplicegod is a bold choice indeed. I'll subscribe and like but I just wanted to talk shop. Not looking to be a member or patron, Patreon? Good luck kid. Invest in a heat gun. They rarely burn holes in heat shrink.
Honestly it’s just the customers quality control they only want loose tube cable ran straight to tray and any ribbon cable runs through the basket it’s just there procedures all telcos build differently🤷🏻♂️thanks for watching and subscribing I appreciate it 🙌

Brother, you are a master of fiber optics, I congratulate you.

I prefer normal speed. Thanks for taking the time to record everything!

Shopping for the ribbon splicer now to help speed things up! I'm gona watch to the end. Good stuff

I really enjoy watching / learning thank you. Also could you fix the audio I can barely hear your voice and theirs a high pitch noise constantly
What kind of sticky back felt do you use for those distribution tubes?
Can you show how the cover goes back on after it's all spliced up, and how they mount the FOSC on the pole or ground ped?
yea no problem ill show that in the next up coming videos i have a few new foscs to be built both underground and arial as well as manhole these videos will come on the weekend
Would you be intrested in teaching testing and basic splicing for a tele co op in kentucky

Blue, white, orange, green, brown, grey blocks
How much is the equipment to splice? Currently starting a contruction company but havent had much exposure to splicing
You can get a used mass fusion splice machine for around 10k I would suggest that if your just starting off to save on some costs
Is there a separate machine for testing?
@ryanrambles2731 yes there is a few brands for testing but the best is exfo they have all the OTDR and power meters you will need for testing
Why don’t you ever put slack in the back
