Yukon River Joe Zuray Catching River Drift Logs
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 жов 2022
- Joe and his wife Samantha heat their house with wood so each spring you'll find them on the beach getting drift logs out of the river. This is the uncut, undramatized day in our lives version of how that happens. It's fall now and ice is flowing in the Yukon and be cutting it all up soon and hauling it to our houses.

Since there is no crab fishing this year. Replace deadliest catch with Yukon men.😊
Yukon men is better than all the shows they run on discovery too. Alaska the last frontier came back but Yukon men still topped ot.
Yup
@@MrPHUCKYOURSELF the rehearsed drama in the last season ruined it.
@@nagunaks2222 ya know it’s been so long I can’t recall. I’d have to rewatch but I think you’re right. There was stuff that felt like producers were pushing. I found Yukon men by accident when it came out in 2012. I remember it was a weekend around this time of year a Saturday and they played the whole first season back to back and I was like wtf is this show? Looked hella interesting so since it was my day off and cold out I watched it and was like this shit is dope. But yeah as time went on you’re right the producers you could tell would be trying to add shit to the show. It’s the same with life below zero. It’s not as good as it was. I do however like port protection. But this last season of port protection is kinda ehhh the first few seasons of port protection was fun and interesting
I agree Yukon Men is way better than Deadliest Catch
What a good man Joe has become. Good job dad!!
i don't know why but i can watch this for hours but i did love the show
This is amazing..
Theres so much drift wood. That's great you can get most of or all your firewood for the winter.
Thanks for posting Stan!!!
Sure miss y’all on tv but just as great here on the tube!
Stan and Joe are true studs. Say no more. True freaking studs. I was so happy to find this channel as i kept checking periodically if YM was coming back but this is good too.
Hey Stan, thank you so much for posting on UA-cam, I've missed Youkon Me so much so thanks for giving us a peek at life on the Youkon you guys rock. Joey all grown up and married wow
I wish they would redo more seasons with you guys !! Everyone I know was so disappointed when they stopped airing y’all. Good to see you back .
The crazy thing is much of the best stuff never got used. They could probably make years of episodes just off the stuff that never got used.
Wow! What a waste..I guess they'll be put in the archives at least..Yukon Men is about as close to being real out of all the reality shows out there..much the best Stan & the rest of YM❤
Archives that will never be viewed I bet. Yukon Men did things that no program has ever come close to doing. When they first came here to film us they ended up not leaving for a break for one and a half years and some of the film guys actually were legal resident of this village. They lived with us and traveled with us even when they had no idea of what they wanted to film. When Discovery Channel pulled the plug all the people filmed just continued to live here as they did before. There was a lot of added drama but most of the incredible stuff was never shown such as the long hours of work or dealing with the cold. When each person in a particular episode is given about 12 minutes of film time to tell a story sometimes drama is all that get told and the true stuff is lost. It was a good show and I met a lot of great film/ camera/ outdoorsmen that I consider as friends.
Unfortunately drama is what sells..people tend to thrive on controversies instead of reality..the hardwork & sacrifices are ignored..so thankful for enlightening us of what really is the insight of the show..From the 1st episode I was already hooked..coz I saw the sincerity in the faces of the entire cast..thru you YUKON MEN lives on....many thanks❤
@@stanzuray Damn thats a shame, YM was the best outdoor reality show out there!! Its great to get knew vids from you Stan!!

Stan you are indeed an inspiration and role model. We just love everything Yukon!
I’m impressed your daughter went to anchorage for college. And your son is a fantastic young man. You did a wonderful job. Keep it up n remember to tell them you love them and you are proud of them you’d be amazed what that means to a young person. My dad never said it.
Stan. Your voice is so soothing and relaxing to listen to. This video is like therapy to me. Thank you.

So cool to see all that’s going on with your family. Love seeing you here.
Smash that like button folks
I remember the days of getting firewood when I was growing up. Wood heat is all we had. It's a lot of work no matter how you get firewood. Nice video Stan!
Hi Stan, nice to see you.
Fascinating and inspiring
Miss the show. Good to see you guys are still around. Keep em coming.
Let me just add that the way you treat your children is respectful. I love that you ask for their help instead of telling, guilting, or bullying them. So you have their love and support as a posed to resentment. What an amazing example you are for parenting 😁
Thank you- nice to here. Often wonder how good I did by them
You guys make a hard life look so enjoyable nice to see your both do well hopeing to see you guys doing a bit of hunting this winter
enjoyed the video Stan 👍 the unedited, rawness lets us appreciate the work that goes into living in the Yukon 👌
Just amazing all the work that goes into living in your world. I think I would really enjoy it. Since I cant, I get to see Stan's and his family's experience. You taught your family well Stan! Bravo

Awesome job boys. Stan your son has came a long way from the start of the original show hard working man

Stan safe and well " my good friends from the north ".👍👍👍
Enjoyed your video Alaska is an impressive place and life style
Thanks for letting us check in on how you guys are doing up there in Alaska, Stan. Really miss that show and the content. You people living up there really shows the true pioneering spirit. Trapping hunting and living off the land. Long may it continue.
Really miss the show with them in it enjoyed watching it but I do enjoy this . Have a good day and stay safe Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts
Great video again Thank you stay safe

Can’t not stop and watch u two
Thanks for sharing the video and information. Sure wish they would put the show back on. Always enjoy seeing y’all’.
Glad to see you
Thanks for sharing more of your adventures Stan! Just now I was bored and was rewatching season one of Yukon men, it was early spring when you and Joey were hunting goose. My 4 year old son was also in the room watching when he turned to me and asked, is he real? My response was automatic, of course Stan is a real person son! When he asked me to prove it, I fetched the book you wrote with your signature on it and his eyes got so big with wonder. Do people still do that?, he asked. Indeed and people have done it for thousands of years before us, my reply. Anyhow thanks for continuing to be an awesome role model not just for me, but now my kids too. Stay safe this winter Stan!
Tell your boy I said hello
Great content stan! Glad you have the time now to make more videos!
Good to hear from a fellow Massachusetts native liked you on the Yukon men keep on going sure wish it wasn't so cold there its the only place you can live totally free!!
Thanks Stan, love this day in the life of your life , would love to see some trapping videos if you can keep your camera and batteries warm enough, God Bless you and your family.
Wow! Glad to see you using what would just clog up the river. Recycling what is wasted otherwise.
Aloha Stan, good to see you and Joe still going strong. I hope the new road connect your town to the outside world has not had too much of a negative impact to your community. Best wishes from Hawaiʻi.
The road gets used mostly by local people and with the collapse of the fur market and the fishing we don't have anyone trying to take over traplines and fishing spots at all.
@@stanzuray Whoa, what caused the collapse of the fur market. I know many Tanana residents relied on furs as a source of income. I hope you all are still able to make ends meet. Enough fish for family sustenance?
You guys are awsome.
VERY INTERESTING!
nice work fellows.
I know it’s 6 months later, but I hope you had a good winter, I bought a cabin in Maine and only use wood, and love it.
Hard work but you never have to worry about gangs, drive by shootings, your kids hooked on technology or drugs. Fresh air, exercise, healthy food, & lots of family & working together. Couldn't ask for much more, huh? Glad you post these, it's nice to see & be able to know how you're doing.
hi Stan! your videos are very interesting, we watch from Russia. your life is very similar to ours, Yakutia. welcome to Yacutia.
Hello Stan from Oklahoma
🍀🙋👍
Lijep pozdrav!!
I'm 43 my dad 69 I c you guys like us where as Joe and me doing more work and you older guys watching lol but still cool
wow heard Pat Moore's name in there, wondered how he and his wife is, awesome.
Pat is okay. His wife has past away.
@@stanzuray Sad to hear about Pat's wife.
Good to see Joey in your video and the other jobs that need doing during summer for winter. I hope the chum bounces back this year and the king salmon isn't far behind that.
Thanks for the new video, looking forward to seeing more, when you can, know you're a busy man.
Стэн молодец снимай больше ,Россия смотрит
River Men. That’d be a great show
For life of me why did they take it off
You're channel seam more real to me
Than any other ones
What I like about you Joey the way
You would say how you feel about things
An you're dad show us how to fix things
With nothing but string an black tape
Talking about the brake line repair
That son of yours is a hard worker.
hard work just to keep warm, they do a great job,how many people would to be willing to do that that live in the lower 48
Yummy Sreypov delicious 😘😋👍🇵🇦
This is pretty neat. My river is boring. Nothing like this going on.
You know when some places in the lower 48 they buy those roots and they cut them up and they make all kinds of nonsense out of them you should look into it
Hi Stan ……good to see,you in you tube …so how about the show coming back on tv
Doubt show will be back. At least not as Yukon Men . But who knows. We were never even told show is over.
♥
Make some good lumber.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yes it made it before Joe got back now time to blend in with the rest of my mates
A lot of guys over here do the same too after ice break up. Notice it’s hard on the chainsaw when you cut drift logs Stan?
I think Joey is doing too well. He gained some weight from this prosperity 😉 Greetings from Poland to you and your families
Married and a baby now. He's got a life vest under his fluffy down coat
@@stanzuray Joey is great guy! Such a son is a treasure! All the best for You, Stan! Peaceful winter!
You damn upriver loggers stealing our firewood. 😁 How's it going Stan?
Going well. Very busy with my stuff and lots to do at city shop. John H. and I are running it and trying to keep roads open with no grader and a bunch of old equipment. Need you back to fix things. Wonder how you're doing every now and then. Take care.
@@stanzuray Doing well Stan. Galena has treated me great. The ten dollar gas is a drag. Crowley stuck it up our arse this year.
I heard the equipment was in bad shape. Poor boying equipment eventually catches up with ya. The responsible parties have flown the coup and left you to deal with the problem. I feel your pain my friend. Been there, done that. Take care and give John a big howdy from me.😁
Great video. How many cord of wood do you go through in a year?
9 cords of wood.
Good Day, Mr. Stan Zuray. I just found this video clip, I thought First People had higher rites to fish and game. They're still Native People . They were here long before any President. But when both you and Joey collect the river logs, do you salvage any to mill up. Also, did I hear Joey correctly? That he had seen Black Ducks we haven't had Black Ducks in southern Ontario since the 1980s! Mostly because of Mallard cross-breeding them out of sight. Take care way way up there : )
I believe in Canada they do but in Alaska subsistence people have priority over commercial is how the law goes. Of course in reality commercial and big money fishing always find a way to trump people putting up food for themselves and protecting the resource for future subsistence needs.
Occasionally a newer driftlog with no silt cracks is used for lumber. The video I have on UA-cam about cutting lumber is one of those.
Hey Stan , will you and Joe have a fish wheel this year? Always looks forward to see what was caught😀
There has not been a subsistence or commercial fishwheel on the Yukon River for two years now and bet the same will happen in 2023.
@@stanzuray Wow! Has Alaska outlawed them?🤷♂️
No fishing has just been closed so no one puts wheels in
Is he working the throttle from the tiller handle and steering from the console?
Ya that's how he's doing it. No controls yet.
Bring YUKON MEN Back!
The more I see your video Stan, the more I miss Yukon men. What a mistake the networks made cutting that one. That was true Alaskan, subsistence living. Unlike the one they kept, Life below zero. Which is so scripted, filled with global warming propaganda, I can't even watch it anymore. I also miss the last alaskans. Another great example of what made this country, men like hemo, and Bob.
o.80 vs o.50 bar,,didnt know that,,good stuff,,does anybody know what chain saw sharpener he uses now,,the electric one,,?
The part of the chain that rides in the bar can be .050 thick and usually one would use a bar that had a .050 slot in that case. If you use a .058 bar and a .050 chain the silt in the water will not bind as much I was told .
Wonder if Alaska has a rabbit season lol.
