  • Today we went on the micro skiff and caught some Big snook. We got two slots, and missed to other massive snook as well.

    It’s not the jig head. It’s the species. Snook are masters at unhooking themselves. Especially if you play them light. I have been driven to the brink of insanity watching them jump off my line. But that’s why I love them. Hard to land at times. Keeps you coming back.

    Good stuff. Keep it coming love that close combat skinny water fishing. NLBN 3 inch is a great all around bait.

    I know those Jake’s heads are expensive too just try sharpening before you use them and only takes a second. I’ve had issues as I know a lot of other peoples are having that issues with it not getting a good hook up with those. I went to a much cheaper jig head, and it actually works great.

    So as far as NLBN the baits are fantastic but I’ve experience about a 60% hook up ratio using there jig heads. The wire is alittle to heavy so I’ve switched to using an ewg weighted worm hook with twist on lock and they have been so much better especially for hooking into redfish. Great content man lemme know if you ever wanna hit some creeks that have been on fire around Marco

    Really great video with super action and content! I fish what I believe is that same area from my Hobie often and there ARE some huge snook and reds around. I've noticed in the past couple of weeks that I've been loosing more fish than usual. Mission Fishin' and Z-Man jig heads are the only ones I use with Z-Man plastics. I'm thinking that the 10 lb braid with 25 lb fluorocarbon is often too lite when in tight, so recently I've been throwing my heavier rigs more with 15 lb braid and 30 lb fluoro with a slightly heavier rod and reel. It does seem to be helping. Thanks for your very informative narrative.

    Seems like your drags too loose & the rod probably doesn’t have enough umph in it lol

      Tightened drag after first fish. Using this rod because my other one snapped. Replacement just came in today💪

    What’s your trolling motor setup? Batteries? Onboard charger? Curious because i have a 15’4” gheenoe and im right around this area- would be killer to have one in the backwater areas like you do

      Honestly I bought it used and I have 2 12 volt batteries up front. Pretty unnecessary if you ask me. In the future I’m going to upgrade to a lithium ion battery, there super lightweight and very good quality. No on board charger, I plug it in at home and charger her up! It’s a 12 volt tiller trolling motor.

    How many hours do you get out of your trolling motor and any battery recommendations?

    • @christian_masterson
      @christian_masterson  3 місяці тому +1

      It’ll last me a day. Start to get slower torwards mid afternoon. I would get a 12v lithium ion battery. LiTime is most reasonable. Still expensive but lightweight and last forever. Gonna upgrade to that when these die

      CA Richardson recommends bending your hook out slightly to increase it to wide gap instead of in-line. Just a thought on why they weren't staying buttoned. Not sure.

    It's totally not the hooks. I use that exact same NLBN set up all the time and never have any issues keeping snook buttoned up, big or small.
