  • The plaintiff says after her son was first arrested, she co-signed on a bail bond. The plaintiff was billed for another bond when her son was arrested for a second time, so she’s suing him. The defendant admits he has been in and out of trouble, but he’s trying to get back on his feet so he can pay back his mother.

They said my son had ADHD AND ODD.. I did get him into therapy but I REFUSED to put him on MEDS.. I would pop up at his school and I realized that he was completing his work and became restless. I had the teacher to give him more work, I had his IQ tested as well, found out he was above his grade level and placed him in the appropriate classes. He's now a senior in college. I SAID ALL OF THIS TO MAKE PARENTS AWARE OF THE FACT THAT THEIR CHILD MAY BE PLACED IN A BOX THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE YOUNG BLACK BOYS.." DON'T COME FOR ME ABOUT BRINGING UP RACE.. DO THE RESEARCH IT'S A STATISTICAL FACT"

Me and Samir have alot of similarities. I'm 35, black , raised by a single mom in one of the worst neighborhoods in America. Was recently diagnosed with ADHD and PTSD due to some of the horrific things I've witnessed in my life. I stayed away from the street life because I saw too many of my friends be betrayed by it. It wasn't a viable way out. I spent alot of time doing nothing, just drinking, partying, scared of my own shadow. Scared to actually try anything out of fear of failure. Wasn't until recently I got my certification in IT and have really changed my life thanks to my wife and daughters (both who have ADHD, one with Autism). They forced me to grow into a more responsible person, but those demons still chase me. We're examples that the journey may take a different path but as long as you survive, you can succeed. Everything you ever wanted is right on the other side of fear.

I am SO proud of you, and I know your wife and children are. Sadly, many don't make it out after being exposed to the hood life as kids. Many are so far gone...This is why I judge NO ONE! If people never experience trauma in childhood, they should consider themselves blessed, not lucky. We all process trauma differently...some will turn to drugs, alcohol, anger, rage, depression, anxiety, ptsd, ocd and the list continues..., many of the trauma triggers will last a lifetime. God heals and therapy gives us tools to manage it. I'm glad many people are starting to realize that their is absolutely nothing wrong with therapy. Therapy can't heal but it helps manages and also gives a SAFE place to express and vent. May God continue to cover, heal and bless you with all the desires of your heart! One day at a time....one day at a time... 🫂

I have twin sons and I remember they were in 4th grade and the school nurse told me they needed to be put on Ritalin because of their behavior. I did not accept this I paid more attention to my sons with more love and tender loving care and come to find out they were just being boys they were growing up.

You know when I used to teach the childrens Bible study one of the children had behavioral issues he broke a cup on the floor. I pulled him aside and asked why did you do that, I'm going to tell your father. He folded his arms huffing and puffing and said, "I dont have no father" The Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said, "That's his issue" As children begin to trust us more and we open up the lines of communication we will see. Yes, of course, I agree that having a positive father or father figure is crucial in the development of children and definitely has positive effect on young boys (and girls). However, when did JM say that a father's presence didn't have an effect? People in intact families and no lack of financial or other resources can have mental or emotional illness. Wealthy and emotionally stable get cancer, COVID, ADHD, bipolar, depressions, anxieties, etc.

The main difference is that psychiatrists can prescribe medications (and often, that is all they do, or that is their first recourse), Psychologist often do not provide psychotherapy. They often spend 20 minutes or less with clients (once a month or quarter) only to review and renew prescriptions. May God continue to cover, heal, and bless us all! One day at a time....one day at a time... 🫂

Living in the so-called hood is traumatic; but evidently so is living in the world in general. Criminal behavior and mental illness affect everyone from every ethnicity and socioeconomic class.

@sereneamani1713 I don't disagree, but I said "as kids" for a reason. It's because it's the formative years. Ptsd in children vs. traumatic events as adults can be very different
