Scott Ritter is a former Marine intelligence officer who served in the former Soviet Union, implementing arms control agreements, and on the staff of General Norman Schwartzkopf during the Gulf War, where he played a critical role in the hunt for Iraqi SCUD missiles. From 1991 until 1998, Mr. Ritter served as a Chief Inspector for the United Nations in Iraq, leading the search for Iraq’s proscribed weapons of mass destruction. Mr. Ritter was a vocal critic of the American decision to go to war with Iraq. His new book, Disarmament in the Time of Perestroika: Arms Control and the End of the Soviet Union, is his ninth.

I grew up in South Africa (at least for a little while). Do you know what Israel and South Africa have in common (apart from developing and testing a nuclear weapons program) ? Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity.
In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time
Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns.

I can't help thinking that if Hezbollah was as ineffective as Israel claims and Israels pre-emptive attack so successful, they'd have gone back into Lebanon and pressed the advantage. It is most often insanely incorrect. Originally he thought Hamas would bring great casualties to the IDF. A couple of months later 40,000 Palestinians have died and the IDF lost 540 troops. Remember when Scott said that Iraq would finish off the U.S. Never happened. The U.S. still has minimal troops in Iraq today. Just a couple of weeks Scott said that Hezbollah and Iran were going to put a massive hurt on Israel. Never happened.

I so agree with what Scott is saying and has actually said several times about battle damage assessment. The only reason for disclosing is such damage is to get sympathetic publicity for your cause or plight. Its no mystery why israel mandated a censorship. Many states do it. And in the us significantly they didnt do it in vietnam thereby fueling the anti war movement at home and as a result clamped back down on media access in the gulf war. Im not opining on morally or ethically whether its right or wrong. But just that it makes perfect strategic sense why israel wouldnt show damage assessments especially to strategic and likely covert facilities.
