Thanks! Yes there was a reel of footage that was put together from many of the recording sessions for this album. Don't know if the music video was on it specifically, while I guess it would make sense, as it was an EPK. As for making it, had moments that swung between shear terror and sky rocketing joy! LOL!!
Ed, thanks so much for sharing a glimpse into "how the music is made", one of my all-time favorite Todd tunes and how cool being able to watch it being recorded....you made my day!
Thanks Lisa! Glad you enjoyed it and I agree! Not many of us get an opportunity to "peer behind the curtain" and see the process. Especially someone at Todd's level. I think it was one of the reasons why Todd took the recording sessions for "2nd Wind" to the audience, let them see the process. And actually be a part of the process. I am not a musician, but who the audience is makes a big difference, a tape machine or humans. It was an honor to be able to witness both processes up close, cherished memories as a fan, but more so to see and hear. The Nearly Human process was quite different then 2nd Wind.
@ChristopherBix2 The hand effect was the most difficult part of this. Not adding the finger, that was easy. But the challenge was to make it appear as if the hand was grabbing and crumbling the live video as if it were a piece of paper. That is what TR wanted and took a great deal of experimenting to get it right. My fondest memory of this was seeing the smile on Todd's face when we showed him a test composite.
Ed, I am a huge Todd fan, ever since Schaeffer Music Festival, Central Park - both the birthday concert and the recording of the Left channel of Sons of 1984. Seeing this video brought me to tears, its so good of you to share it. Thank you very, very much. John

Ed, Saw Fidelity and that was great too. I've been a fan of TR all along, just recently realized how much video of him and Utopia is available on the net. Recently saw him in Ridgefield CT, it was the "hits" show, he is just an amazing talent. Can't wait to hear what the new CD has in store. btw, I'm a fellow NYU grad, class of 76, we rule!

John, GO VOILET!! LOL!! Cool, did you happen to catch the 09 Live AWATS tour, playing the entire album live? Or 2010 when he played both complete albums of "Todd" and "Healing"? But think the best for me was last year when the original early 70s Utopia band was reformed, basically playing TR's Utopia and Another Live completely. Never got to see that line up, was an AMAZING TOUR!!!
@TallTallDaddy1 Hmmmm, that would seem odd, since I do not recall a rough cut every being produced, at least on tape. This was cut in a non-linear bay and we went directly to an online bay, at which time we made the sepia tone color correction.

@bungalowmo Yep it seemed to work very well, as you point out! There is a video for Fidelity as well and I have seen additional footage from those sessions floating out there. But I have never taken the time to cut specific songs.
A very nice, well-done video, Mr. Vigdor. I have to wonder, though, why does Todd have that oval shaped strainer/screen thingie between his mouth and the mic? I've never seen a setup like this whenever I've seen him in concert. :-) P.S. - I remember you from The Nexus days; you shot some video with your camcorder when Ruth R. took us on a tour of Upper Darby, PA. Somewhere I have a photo of you doing this. We didn't know each other well, but my real name is Randy A.
Hey Randy!! The screen is to stop the "P's popping" into the mic as vocals are recorded. Notice all the vocal mics have them, pretty standard for a recording session, but now wouldn't be the same in concert. Often vocal mics for live shows do have a foam sleeve around them.

TR and Daryl Hall have always sounded alike but on this track it really could be either of them singing!
