One caveat though is that the path is concatenated every time you press the 'K' button to capture a screenshot
Ah crap! You are totally right. I made some last minute adjustments for the video and didn't catch that. I'll pin your comment and make some changes to the linked code. Much appreciated.
@@OneWheelStudio 100% behind you mate. Programming 101: "Make mistakes until you get it right" ;-)
I had no idea this existed! Thank you so much, that'll help out loads!
Awesome! Glad it was useful. Do make sure to check out the corrected code (stupid mistake in the video).
@@OneWheelStudio yes, I saw your other comment (even though I don't completely understand the problem). Thanks for the help!
Dont forget to add a \\ at the end of the path if it's not working!
thank you so much! ive been trying for ages to get it to work but this just fixed it! thx
You're a lifesaver!!!
Thank you this is so usefull!
Cool Recipe thanks
Your video is so helpful!! It’s just that I do not have a prior knowledge to the path and I’m really stuck…😢 I looked it up on Google but I’m still confused.
This might be a dumb question: Is the path referring to the folder where I want to save the screenshots to?
For example,I want to save them in a folder on my hard drive, I entered: Volume\\Extreme Pro\\Digital Still Life\\Unity Screenshot\\
but it shows “Failed to store screen shot” , is there anything I should change?
Thank u so much!🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hello! I wanted to ask you what do I need to do to take a screenshot with post processing effects included? I'm using Unity HDRP
Also, id suggests displaying ScreenSize.x * Size in the Editor to know your Actual Screenshot Resolution. (And the path variable is permanently damaged after 1 screenshot if you copy-pasted code from the video).
I made some changes to the code before recording. Screwed up the path. The linked code resolves the problem.
Awesome, does this works only in the Editor or will also work on a compiled build?
Yes it will work in a build. I used it to create a screenshot of a level before uploading to the Steam Workshop. You do need to be careful and or think about the path that the image gets stored at. Builds and projects don't have the same folder structure or location.
@@OneWheelStudio Thanks, I just tried it but there seems to be an issue with superScale, when I set it to higher than one the image produced has the correct dimensions, but it is as if it was upscaled with photoshop it doesnt seem to be rendered at a higher resolution hence it looks blurry. Do you know if this might be a bug, should I report it? Thanks
Hmm. I really don’t know. I never noticed as I was testing it - it could be bug. Im pretty sure I was able to 1080p to 4K with great results.
How possible is it to interrupt this to add additional details over the top before the image is compiled?
I want to add a Camera to my game where folks take photos. I guess in a split-second I could change the UI to have some overlays that'd affect the outcome. I'd like the xyz in the bottom right, maybe a "film grain", and a vignette. I think then I'd want to figure out a way to look at them, from a scrapbook in-game.
I haven't looked into it much, but Unity has a video on "Photo Mode" that might be more of what you're looking for. ua-cam.com/video/GEPJZwFt2DM/v-deo.html
@@OneWheelStudio Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and helping me further down the path. Breathe well today.
Unity should make this built in sadly it isn't thanks for the video!
Do you mean have it presetup to have a key for screenshots? Because this uses the unity CaptureScreenshot function. For a game engine having to write a few lines of code to use something should be no barrier.
how to add the code?
wtf whith unity?why I cant take a hi res screenshot like in a UE4\5?
This method lets you scale up by an integer? Is it not working for you?
Hey Could you pin a copy and paste of the scripts? Im to Lazy To Do So if thats okay
There’s a link in the description 😉
@@OneWheelStudio Oh but that says KPotential Dangerous Download* so that’s why I didn’t click on it.
It’s been a while but it should just be a paste bin link.
