I think people have shoved it to the sidelines considering A&M hasn't been a great team for a while and they've been in separate conferences. I think with the hype and prices of tickets this year, and if the game is crazy, it could be a major revival for the rivalry and boost it back up into the top rivalries in college football. As a UGA grad I will say the Georgia Florida rivalry (and yes that's the only way to say it.) I loved going to it. Still do. We can get together and drink beer friendly before the game. As an Alabama fan I’m biased to that rivalry. Know married couples that don’t speak to each other the day of the Iron Bowl. Usually at least one shooting occurs in the state as a result of that game. Coaches with winning seasons have been fired over loosing that game. Unlike other states we don’t have pro teams so it’s all around CFB. A man killed 100 year old trees at Auburn bc someone defaced a statue at Alabama. It being an in state rivalry adds to it and also the amount of times one team has been on the cusp of getting to play for a national title just to be beaten by rival is another facet. You could have a losing record yet beat your rival and you keep your job.

This last season my wildcats played Tennessee at Kroger field and their fans were being the most disrespectful I’ve ever seen because they were yelling, cussing, and mocking the Kentucky state song while it was being played and that is a boundary you do not cross. I’m fine with cussing and yelling fans at eachother in the game but the state song situation is just something no rivalry no matter how intense it is should do and it was scary from how tense it got from the disrespect to where it seemed a brawl will take place in the stands

No other rivalry has had as many historic endings. not to mention auburns ability to still be competitive and win against Alabama while nick saban has been dominating college football. Ohio state dominated Michigan for the better part of a decade until recently and it wasn't even close. That's what separates the iron bowl as the best rivalry.

The iron bowl is the best rivalry in sports. No other rivalry has had as many historic endings. not to mention auburns ability to still be competitive and win against Alabama while nick saban has been dominating college football. Ohio state dominated Michigan for the better part of a decade until recently and it wasn't even close. That's what separates the iron bowl as the best rivalry.

It has decided a large part of the national championship picture every year from 2008-2023, with the exception of 2022, whether that be Alabama going to the postseason or Auburn making a run at a natty like 2010, 2013, or 2017, every single year it has had postseason implications.
