I just finished building the handrail on my deck ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z and used this great little router to clean up the top rail before the final sanding and stain. It was light weight but packed lots of power. Either size battery didn't seem to make it top heavy and I'm a 64 yr old women so I really appreciated how easy it was to use...................... CORDLESS only way to go !!

I purchased the aluminum jig and it arrived yesterday. I thought it was expensive but very well designed. I was surprised at the weight and complexity of the whole kit. This is a high end accessory and well worth the money. Very happy with this purchase.

Really, you got it already? I also purchased the jig a few weeks ago on “pre-order”, and haven’t gotten any specific updates via email. from the website it said it would be shipping late November, I checked the site again yesterday and it now says it will be shipping late December. When did you order and how did you get it early?

I think it took about a month but it was well worth the wait. I ordered it in September. Iwas surprised that it came with an instruction booklet which I recommend you follow as I was clueless trying to line up my trim router to attach it. I finally tried following the directions and it made it easy. Something I would suggest is to check behind the place where the instructions are stored. There is a velcroed compartment storing an additional plate and template to make a separate small router table. Best of luck with your purchase. I think it may take a while because it is produced in smaller batches as orders are received?

It's a limited market. Lots of the concepts already exist in the market.
Getting patents mean you should get permission from other patent holders whose ideas you have used and obviously paying for it.
He won't be able to defend his patents . Neither is it easy to make it a production piece then sell it around the world. Ultimately even if patentable it may not be profitable to produce and distribute and sell.

@@Tensquaremetreworkshopi always see this problem when making stuff for makers. If it's too expensive you will see someone make it themself, and it's always allowed to make something for yourself, by yourself. Only distribution is not allowed

@@WetOlde Yes. But you can distribute how to make it. Including 3D print files- as long as you generated the design yourself. This is why 3D printing can't be beaten for rapid prototyping! 😎
The designs are fantastic; I wonder how many iterations they evolved through before the final iteration. Speaking of, I love the drill press, but could the angled plates not be combined into just one adjustable version?
There are at least two, no, _three_, wait, _*__five,_* pffft, *_MOST_* of your designs I'd love to get my hands on!

    Cool, nice work.
    Some ideas for improvement:
    - those thumbscrews need to have a bit of grip. With tired or greasy hands, they will be a pain to turn. I know they also provide sliding so the outer surface must be smooth, but you can add a knurling to a suppressed surface.
    - That angle block at 5:12 really needs to be one single block with adjustable angles, not multiple blocks all with one fixed angle. This is too inconvenient for anyone to use.
    - The tapered tenon should preferably allow for seeing how far down the rod you are. Currently it seems like you're cutting blind.
    - The tapered tenon should ideally have adjustable angles, not just one fixed angle.
    - That router jig, it would allow for using it on free-form line tracing (like a jigsaw) or engraving if it was possible to see the router bit a bit better. Currently its super hard to see. I guess one could remove that gray part with the little window.

I think people overlook how much time and material go into this type of work. Revision after revision where each kg of trial and error costs another $30 and hours of time on the plastic side alone.
Most of my DIY jigs have been simple. I started making a more complicated tool and realized its cheaper to just buy the tools (if they exist) or keep it simple for the task at hand.
Unless you plan to market it; perfecting the design just costs too much.

Crap will get under the base, and you'll end up with something that's not flat. Always slide on a good reference surface, like something that rides on linear guides or something

Thank you, new designs are going to use threaded inserts that uses a soldering iron, but current designs with wood inserts can be replaced with the same heat inserts as well, its just in some cases you have to use wood inserts because they have to be installed deep in the 3d printed part like in drill press, it will be very challenging to install heated inserts that deep without damaging 3d printed part
