My favorite country pairing. No insult to anyone else who sang with Kenny, but Dottie and Kenny had a similar soulfulness in their singing as well as crossover appeal that made them perfectly suited as duet partners. I haven't heard a better match of man and woman on a country music record. I have both the albums they did together on vinyl. Essential.
Dottie West was a true lady. This song has been in my head for at least 4 decades. I laugh at what Kenny said about her husband not being able to do a damn thing about it. Kenny has gotten better looking with age, I love his music. The duets with Dottie are so good, I might have to dig out my old vinyl lp's.
Two things I forgot and shame on me for both of them. First, I forgot how beautiful Dottie West was. Second, I forgot how sultry this song was. Fly high, Dottie and Kenny. I know God has a front-row seat to one outstanding concert.
Well Kenny Roger's ( may he rip) was a awesome performer but George strait is the king of country......second place is Merle haggard, and George Jones....Kenny is way down the list as being the best country male singer.
Love that song, what a great pair they made. I was working in the Country Music Hall of Fame Nashville TN around that time, fell in love with them and Jim Ed/Helen in particular.
God how it breaks my heart to see what Kenny looks like now. Just yesterday I saw a video of him with Dolly singing "I will always love you" to him as he sat on a stool. As far as I could tell, it was NOT Kenny Rogers, but then he turned to a point that he was looking towards the camera and then I was sure it was him. Cancer is eating him away just like it has to so many others. Watching this takes me back to the 70's and 80's when I fell in love with country music.
@@renee7482 I understand what you're saying. Some songs you'll never be able to hear another couple or person preform because it doesn't sound like the perfect original. Thats what some of American Idol's have a problem with when they pick songs. Like the song Louisiana Woman and Mississippi Man.
Wow, I commented on this 4 years ago! I guess great music is never out of our heads. I still laugh at what Kenny says about Dottie's husband. RIP Dottie West, you are missed all these years later.
HoosierRN I take it you're from Indiana, which is in the Big Ten with Iowa, and I love what you say about when it was worth listening to. Country crashed into the pop scene back in the 70's and I became a fan of many country singers as well as pop. These days, not so much. Yes, I'm from Iowa, and I hate that our conference has added these other schools in recent years, because I can't remember the last time we played against each other in football......or even basketball. God, I must be old and losing my memory.
i only recently found out Dottie died in a car accident back in '91,...a great loss to Country Music, may she rest in peace, AWESOME duet she's got here goin' with the GREAT Kenny Rogers,....GREAT Performance ya uploaded here thundereye92,...thumbs up to ya and thankin' my pal montanerfan10 for the COOL share! = )
FYI: Great song! While Rogers’ duets with Parton are some of his most recognizable, she surprisingly isn’t his favorite duet partner. Yes, you read that right! During an interview with The Naples Daily News which was published on Wednesday (January 25), Rogers said that his favorite duet partner was actually Dottie West. They released duet albums together, with some of their most memorable singles being “Every Time Two Fools Collide” and “All I Ever Need Is You.”
I wish I would have been around to see them both in concert. Sadly, I was born in the wrong decade. I was born in 1996, and I will admit this as a youngster, music today sucks!
Quite a number of years ago I attended a concert in Augusta ,GA featuring Dottie and Kenny and heard their most fantastic version of Elvis' "TRIOGY"! My question is did they ever record it???
Both awesome singers, and I love them both, and they both can sing, Kenny cracks me up when I hear him say that. Too many years being with Dolly LOL Wonderful woman
On this day in 1978 {October 29th} Kenny Rogers and Dottie West's "Anyone Who Isn't Me Tonight"* peaked at #2 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "Sleeping Single In A Double Bed" by Barbara Mandrell... It reached #10 on the Canadian RPM Country Singles chart... Abd from the 'For What It's Worth' department, the remainder of Billboard's Country Top 10 on October 29th, 1978: At #3. "Cryin' again" by the Oak Ridge Boys #4. "Ain't No California" by Mel Tillis #5. "Little Things Mean A Lot" by Margo Smith #6. "Sweet Desire"/"Old Fashioned Love" by The Kendalls #7. "I Just Want To Love You" by Eddie Rabbitt #8. "Daylight" by T.G. Shepard #9. "What Time Do You Have To Be Back To Heaven" by Racy Bailey #10. "Another Goodbye" by Donna Fargo
Any of us who listened an watch that vedio noticed in stead of saying Dottie he said Dolly so used to dolly an I must say the two were perfect singer together kenny an dolly singers 4 life.
Back when country music was experiencing an infusion of disco in stuff like the drum beat, the look (Dottie's Farrah-Fawcett hairstyle) and celebre (Kenny Rogers- -big in the '70's)
I can see why Kenny Rogers likes this song. Cuz it's a fun song to sing and he puts his little jokes in with it especially on stage. Dottie West's husband probably hates it but Kenny knows it but it's all out of fun that's why there was such a good friends. You can tell who was on his mind Dolly Parton was laughing my ass off. Kenny all you had to say is Dolly West. Then you got them both .lol
Regardless of personal opinion, and that's all any of these comments are, no matter how some may try and claim otherwise, Kenny's duets with Dottie were far more important in his career than those with any other singer. By the time he recorded with Sheena or Dolly he was already a bonafide superstar & all time legend. When he began duetting with Dottie his post-first edition career had only been established for less than 2 years. His duets with Dottie made many die hard country music fans who originally saw him as a ex-pop star jumping on the bandwagon see him as a serious country act. As for West, the duets with Rogers helped her reach bigger commerical heights than she ever had before. The songs, the voices (that actually do complement each other, sometimes contrast is better than blending), and the energy between the two works very well & made for many a very good hit record. Kenny & Dottie were amazing together!
My favorite country pairing. Kenny Rogers was the King of country music, no doubt
Well Kenny Roger's ( may he rip) was a awesome performer but George strait is the king of country......second place is Merle haggard, and George Jones....Kenny is way down the list as being the best country male singer.

Just great! Love it.
What a Great Song!!!
I agree, Tim and Faith would do Kenny and Dottie proud
i can see why he would say Dolly when he was referring to the line "You got the kind of body that was made to give a man alot of pleasure"
He must be thinking about Dolly. Then again Dottie and Dolly it’s easily confusing:).
How cute are they?¿❤❤❤❤
Back when country music was experiencing an infusion of disco in stuff like the drum beat, the look (Dottie's Farrah-Fawcett hairstyle) and celebre (Kenny Rogers- -big in the '70's)
thundereye92 THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO CLIP!!!!

Is duet is perfect
Country music is my favorit music Songs
BRAVO !!!!!
Awesome
Love Dottie as well
Amo questa canzone! Cantata da due stelle! Che ora brillano in cielo! 😍🤩👨❤️💋👨🥰😍😘💘💔💯💯💯
Kenny did great duets with Kim Carnes, Sheena Easton, Dolly Parton, Cindy Fee and many others, but his best duets are with Dottie West!
+Paul London I disagree, his voice goes much better with Dolly's voice...Dottie sings in a lower key..It's not a perfect match.
And Kenny's favorite duet was with Sheena Easton - "We got tonight" (I heard him say in an interview).
Regardless of personal opinion, and that's all any of these comments are, no matter how some may try and claim otherwise, Kenny's duets with Dottie were far more important in his career than those with any other singer. No doubt
I totally agree with Paul, Dottie was his best duet partner...and a beautiful lady!
