  • Reupload of the August 2022 Michigan Reptile Expo video for enhanced sound.
Due to a work related injury I've been free to waste my time (and money) by going out and videoing my local Reptile Shows. This Expo, held at the Taylor Town Trading Center in Taylor Michigan on the 2nd Saturday of every month, was pretty busy and held a few surprises.
Keep an eye out for the escaping Burmese Python, the cute Western Hognose Snakes, the sweet Black and White Tegu, and a lot more.
Hopefully the audio quality is improved in this version.
    Thanks for watching!

No bc I love how you filmed this. Filmed supplies along with the animals and showed tags and went over many different animals and tables. Great

Thank you for showing us this expo! I am planning on going to my first reptile expo in Michigan this weekend & I just wanted to kind of know what to expect. Looks exciting!

How would you say prices are compared to normal stores?
I saw an emerald tree boa for $250 which was shockingly cheaper than I anticipated

Depending on age, gender and availability Emerald Tree Boas seem to be reasonably priced . The Amazon Basin Emeralds go for many thousands of dollars though because they are a rare locality. I don't usually see even the normal Emeralds at shows though.
Whenever something is rare at a show you can expect prices to be increased. As an example, at about 3 minutes in I'm going over a Western Hognose table and his prices are pretty high for what he has. However, he was the only game in town so anyone looking to get a snake that day would either have to go without or pay his price. Funny thing, most people are impatient at these sort of shows when looking for a specific animal and choose pay the price.

Did they have jumping spiders, dart frogs, or mantis’s there as well? I’m going to go next Saturday and was hoping to see some there.

They did have jumping spiders and dart frogs when I was there shooting this video. However, I will say that the Jumping Spiders are fairly uncommon at this show and that they just happened to be there this time. I've only ever seen mantis there once in the few years I've been going so it's not very good odds that they'll be on display.
At most of the shows that take place here you'll see a variety of reptiles but most of them are Ball Pythons with a few different snakes and lizards mixed in.

A bit of a late response, however, I went to the expo today and TheRoachCrossing was selling mantids. I got one myself, in fact!

Ever come across tokay geckos at the expo? I’m from west Michigan and never can find any over here, nice video!

I've seen them very rarely and never any babies. It always seems to be adults when they do pop up at the show.

I volunteer at the 4 Mile show in GR. I can ask around if anyone has tokays they can bring to the next 4 Mile show.

@@nataliesreptiles awesome sounds good, use to go to that show a lot but just seemed like there was hardly any vendors the last couple times I had went

@@Justin.HeterodonHome oh okay, just must not be a lot of people keeping them around here I guess

@@Calverleyexotics Yeah. We're competing with 2 other reptile shows in west Michigan that have been around longer. So trying to get vendors is tough. And since there's a lot of drama between show promoters and between vendors, it doesn't make it any easier.

I'm in the south east Michigan area and I've been meaning to check this show out. I believe the next show is September 10th? Great video

Yup. September 10th is the next show. They have a website that lists their vendors for that month’s show although I doubt the list is full yet.

Any rainbow boas at these expos?

I rarely see them at Michigan expos for some reason.

Well, I just went to this particular reptile expo for the 2024, February show and there was one seller there with about 7 Rainbow boas. I've seen him there at almost every Taylor Town reptile expo so good chance he'll be there again next month on the 2nd Saturday.

I made to the one this month. There was one brazilian and a few colombian rainbow boas but they were not what i was looking for. I did find a blood boa that really got me interested in that breed and i think i will get a blood boa soon instead of rainbow.@@Justin.HeterodonHome
