First, I love Premier clay. It is the best air dry clay out there. I love the way these candles turned out. The clay coating will last for years and it makes the project looks so elegant. Bravo!
Sooooooo pretty I need those molds ! I can see them being used for so many projects and . I have a whole bunch of scented candle oils form my sis that has worked in a candle factory for over 15 years ! Now I can see making some fancy scented candles with this technique, even reusing the glass holders the candles she makes come in ! So many ideas 💡 thanks mark
Never been a candle fan but have wanted to play with clay lately. Thinking a fancy bird house is going to come out of your inspiration. Thank you Mark for sharing your ideas, time and talent.
Hi Mark!, I love the elegant and refined look of this candles! Non expensive materials, very affordable and if we add a little bit of fragance...oh my!...it will look like a million decorating any room or giving it as a gift!...as always thank you for your precious ideas!
Beautiful!! My mother had a beautiful jewelry box that was plaster I think. It had been carved and painted and antiqued. I always thought it was so elegant. I may try this on a small wooden cigar box I found. You always amaze me!!!
I'm a junkie for you Mark. These are fantastic, of course. And the colors are part of my happy place. I am making these. We do a clay class at our studio and would love to make this into a class. Always an inspiration.
WOW! I love making embellishments for my art (mostly Steampunk). Right now I'm using 2-part Apoxie Sculpt, which is fine - most of the time. Your Activa clay sounds like a great alternative to try!!! And I love how you can present a project so clearly in less than 5 minutes. This one was GORGEOUS!! Thanks and big hug, cat
WOW!!!! MARK, THESE ARE STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!! YOU DID AN AWESOME JOB!!!! I LOVE THEM AND DEFINITELY AM GOING TO TRY TO MAKE THESE BEAUTIES!!! I DO LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! THIS IS NO EXCEPTION!!!! BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL!! BEAUTIFUL!!!! THIS IS DALAINE FROM RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA AGAIN!!! I LOVE THIS IDEA! I AM NOW THINKING OF BRONZE CANDLES WITH BLACK AGING ON IT! SILVER THE SAME WAY! THE OPPORTUNITIES ARE ENDLESS WITH THIS FANTASTIC TECHNIQUE YOU SHARED WITH ALL OF US!!! Thank You again!!! You are THE MAN OF THE CRAFTING WORLD!!! 😊❤️👍🏼
I'm happy you found this too! We always put the supplies in the description of the video or you can subscribe to my blog (www.MarkMontano.com) which always has the links to everything I use.
Very cool project! How did I never think of using cornstarch to prep molds? I've had to fight silicone molds and even killed one in the oven trying to get my clay experiments back. That would have saved me so much time!!!
Thank you for sharing one more amazing project! Gave me so many ideas!!! This Activa clay looks really cool. Did it crackle when it dried, because most air dry clays do crackle a bit...But I noticed it made very crisp designs...So beautiful!
Stunning!!! I have that mold and two others. The flourish looking one I was going to put on a tin can and use in the bathroom to hold stuff since my glass one broke. But I was having issues getting the paper clay out of the mold. Now I know why... I need to dust it with cornstarch so thank you for the reminder. it's been a while since I played with clay. With the Polymer stuff I used water. Don't even bother with air dry clay that stuff is total crap. I wrapped a thin layer around the can by morning it had cracked and fallen off.
Iove all your designs.. I was thinking how neat it would be if you had one or two days workshops, and people could come and create a few of your designs.. I live here in Northwest Alabama where a clothing designer named Alabama Chanin has work shops, sell kits to make things by hand, and I think she travels, I know she did in the past, giving work shops... Her items are pricey, but a good concept.. I think a Mark Montana workshop would be s dream... If you packaged you projects as kits, it would be great.. we could just order the kit to complete the project. Of course, we could pick up our own dollar store candels etc.. I saw that the Alabama Chanin company is selling kits on Craftsy
Hey you wonderful man ❣️ Love all you do, so of course I want to try this, but the molds used in the video are hard to get for me, it is a day trip to a retailer that sells them. Do you have a suggestion on an alternative mold that would work for this project? Thank you for all you do!

Hola Angelito!
Neat idea for a Christmas gift
Yes, for sure!
Love Baroque, but what I especially love is Rococo. Do you love Rococo style too?
These would make a great gift. Beautiful ❤
Hi Jessica!
These are gorgeous! How much were the actual candles that you saw on your vacation that inspired you?
Upwards of $100 each! I loved them so much, but just didn't want to carry them around with me AND they were too expensive for my taste!
Crazy in love with this one, Mark!!! How do you do it???
I have no idea! I'm just bored and have to keep very busy all the time!
Gorgeous. Tfs
Hi Maria!
So creative!!! And functional!

Very cool project! How did I never think of using cornstarch to prep molds? I've had to fight silicone molds and even killed one in the oven trying to get my clay experiments back. That would have saved me so much time!!!
Corn starch is your friend!

Aloha Kakahiaka Mark.Outstanding & so classy!
Hi Mary! Aloha!
Thank you for sharing one more amazing project! Gave me so many ideas!!! This Activa clay looks really cool. Did it crackle when it dried, because most air dry clays do crackle a bit...But I noticed it made very crisp designs...So beautiful!
This one did not crackle. I was surprised, too!
Looks like a great product...wonder if I can bring it to Greece....Thank you so much!

Cornstarch saved my life! Put it in a little salt shaker so you have it on hand when you need it. Add some rice in it so it stays broken up.
oh good idea. we already use rice in the salt shaker for the same reason.
Love the candles!!! Have you tried using silicon with the thin sugar molds??? Those would work good here too.
I haven't but it sounds really fun!
Oooh, that looks like fun to make! Thanks for sharing!😁👍
Love this clay so much!
so classy so easy so pretty😍
Thank you!
Mark another fab design!!!

Thanks Rene!
Wow...Mark ...u r really a Genius...
Thanks so much! Where have you been?
Wow so beautiful!!!
Glad you like them!
Mark, these are lovely! Question: why can't the clay strips be glued onto the glass immediately?
Hi Deb, great question! The clay can shrink a tiny bit so you want to make sure that it's completely dry first.
Iove all your designs.. I was thinking how neat it would be if you had one or two days workshops, and people could come and create a few of your designs.. So fun to make! They are still on my desk!
Just wondering could I add essential oils in the melted wax for scent or would it mess things up? Great job! Keep the DIYs coming lol
That would work!
